The answer is this prefix spelling rule does not apply to suffixes.

The statement prior to this is, adding a prefix to a root word does not change the spelling of the root word. However this prefix spelling rule does not apply to suffixes. When adding a suffix to a root word you change the spelling for example cancelled is a combination of 'cancel' and 'ed' but you add an extra 'l' into the word. This doesn't happen when adding prefixes.

Ksivusya [100]
Hey there!
What he means by foul and fair is that first of all, war is always foul. People die, and it can end in victory for one side, but they will undoubtedly suffer losses.
However, there's a specific reason for this war. It's a war based on a disagreement or argument, and war was the way it was settled.
A situation can be both foul and fair if it has equal pros and cons, like suffering losses but settling an argument.
Hope this helps!

Read the passage.
ivann1987 [24]

Answer:

The correct answer is B.

Explanation:

The most likely meaning of metaphor in this sentence is that Amit's thoughts are confused and contradictory.

A Metaphor is the use of two contradictory words or ideas for the sake or purpose of emphasis. Examples are; all the world is a stage, John is a lion in the fields, Mary is a Chameleon, etc.

From the passage,  the "river and the waves crashing" is metaphorical as it depicts Amit's feeling of confusion and disorder. Amit's wished Tamar never told him his secret as his thoughts are now in a state of clash and worry.
