Lymphatic system is involved in maintaining the immunity of the body. Organs associated with it are composed of lymphatic tissue and lymphocyctes are produced here. Lymphocyte is a type of white blood cell.

The main organs containing the lymphatic tissue are thymus, spleen, lymph nodes, tonsils and adenoids. Thymus is the primary lymphoid organ and T cells mature here. Spleen produces immune cells and also removes old red blood cells from blood. When lymphatic tissue is arranged in an area it forms the lymph nodes. Lymph passes through it on its way back to blood. Tonsils are set of lymphoid organs towards the aerodigestive tract. Adenoid is a lymphatic tissue high in the throat behind the nose. It is very prominent in children but starts to shrink after 5 years of age. Liver generally does not have lymphatic tissue.
