What is the most likely reason the author chose a free verse structure for "song of myself"?

Answer:

To display a feeling of freedom through the written part of speech.

Explanation:

Song of myself is a part of Leaves of Grass, a book by American poet Walt Whitman, who is considered as a major figure in worldwide poetry. This book is also considered as a big contribution to a new type of poetry.

By using this type of verse, which was very new for that moment, Whitman most likely wanted to continue the tone of Song of myself, keeping the lines and their content as simple as possible (but not easy), and also, it is very likely the poet tried to show that being free also took part in his poetry, by not respecting any metric feet or rhyme patterns (which are characteristics of free verse.)

PSYCHO15rus [73]

The correct answer would be alternative A) "most of those increases in agriculture are cash crops reserved for export."

The increase of production of crops doesn't benefit the hungry, as the crops are not meant for them. They're destined to exportation. For this reason, the hungry don't get anything from the increase in production.

One of the ways to prevent hunger in developing countries would be to have this crops used for social programs, and distribute food to the hungry. However, that's not the way it's done.

According to Beveridge, the expansion of America was in accordance with the divine providence; it was mandatory to continue the United Stated expansion into the Philippines and the Pacific Rim. For him, this expansion will ensure and economical and political growth for the United States; this idea was supported by the 19th century Manifest Destiny.

What was a cost associated with enforcing the Interstate Commerce Act of 1887?
Andrews [41]

The correct answer is A) establishing and maintaining the Interstate Commerce Commission.

A cost associated with enforcing the Interstate Commerce Act of 1887 was establishing and maintaining the Interstate Commerce Commission.

In that time, railroads had abusive practices that affected consumers and businesses across the country. That is why the federal government created the Interstate Commerce Act of 1887, effective since April 7. The United States Congress wanted to reduce monopolistic practices in railroads of America and invite those companies to have more reasonable prices that could be afforded by the majority. One of the costs associated with enforcing the Interstate Commerce Act of 1887 was establishing and maintaining the Interstate Commerce Commission that was looking for the elimination of discrimination rates and to oversee railroads compliance with these new regulations.
