In the period from circa 1200 to circa 1450, the government that existed within the African societies varies.  Some of the societies are stateless and some are runs like kingdoms. Most of the governments in Africa during that era were founded on the principles of communism.

Some Africa societies are self-governing, which implies they are an autonomous entity.

Also, most societies in Africa during this era are stateless and the royal leaders ran the day to day affairs of their tribe together with some council. To take decisions, the council would have to inform their chiefs and the chiefs are also checkmated by the councils
