You are given two true-breeding groups of rabbits. The first group has floppy ears and white coat color. The second group has st

raight ears and black coat color. When you perform a cross of these two groups to obtain an F1 generation, you see that all of your rabbits have floppy ears and grey coat color. Which of the following possibilities appears to be supported by what you see in the F1 generation?a) Floppy ears are dominant over straight ears; white coat color is dominant over black coat color.b) Straight ears are dominant over floppy ears; coat color is determined by intermediate dominance.c) Straight ears are dominant over floppy ears; white coat color is dominant over black coat color.d) Straight ears are dominant over floppy ears; black coat color is dominant over white coat color.e) Floppy ears are dominant over straight ears; coat color is determined by incomplete dominance.f) Floppy ears are dominant over straight ears; black coat color is dominant over white coat color.

Answer:

Option E, Floppy ears are dominant over straight ears; coat color is determined by incomplete dominance

Explanation:

Let the allele for floppy ears be "F" and the allele for straight ears be "f"

And Let the allele for black coat color be "B" and the color for white coat color be "b"

Now, the cross is carried out between the first group having floppy ears and white coat color (FFbb) and the second group having straight ears and black coat color (ff BB)

The 16 offspring have genotype FfBb

Phenotype of 16 offspring is Floppy ears and grey coat

Ff represents the floppy ear , thus "F" is dominant over "f"

Bb represents the grey color which is a case of incomplete dominance in which none of the real trait i.e black or white is expressed.

Hence, option E is correct

What did rosenberg and trevathan discover in their study comparing human and nonhuman primate birth?
melamori03 [73]
When comparing the birth patterns of humans and non-human primate, Rosenberg and Trevathan discovered some very clear differences:

1. The human period of labour and child birth is exceptionally long and painful compared to other non-human primates.
E.g. a human labour can last anywhere from 10-20 hours while that of a chimpanzee lasts only 2 hours.

2. Humans have the ability to walk straight, the trade off however is that it is extremely difficult and painful to give birth to a big brained human baby.
