Answer:

menisci

Explanation:

Some synovial joints such as that of knees have crescent-shaped pads. These pads are made up of fibrocartilage and are present between the articular surfaces of the bones. These cartilaginous pads are attached to the fibrous capsule and are called articular discs or menisci.

The function of the menisci is to serve in shock absorption and minimize the wear and tear of the joint. Meniscus also allows the articulating bony surfaces to fit properly and facilitate an adaptable surface for combined movements. Meniscus serves to distribute the weight over a greater contact surface and thereby makes the joint stable. It also spreads the synovial lubricant across the articular surfaces of the joint.

Alleles A and a are located on a pair of metacentric chromosomes. Alleles B and b are located on a pair of acrocentric chromosom
Leto [7]

Answer:

See the second attached image showing the gametes from the parent with the location of the centromere indicating the type of chromosome

Explanation:

According to the position of the centromere, chromosomes can be of 4 types namely:

 1. Metacentric
 2. Acrocentric
 3. Telocentric
 4. Sub-metacentric

A metacentric chromosome is a chromosome that has no short or long arm. The arms are equal in length with the centromere joining the two sister chromatids located at the center.

Acrocentric chromosomes have unequal arm lengths with the centromere skewed towards one end of the chromosome.

Telocentric chromosomes have their centromeres at one end of the chromosome.

Sub-metacentric chromosomes have unequal arm lengths but the centromere is not as skewed to one end of the chromosome length as found in acrocentric chromosome.

The only possible gamete from aa bb parent is ab. Recall that the allele a is located on a metacentric chromosome while allele b is located on acrocentric chromosome.

Sav [38]

A. Hormones act as signal molecules between all body systems

Peripheral Chemoreceptors (Carotid + Aortic Bodies) and Central Chemoreceptors in the Medulla Oblongata detect high Carbon Dioxide levels in the blood during exercise. The respiratory centre in the Medulla Oblongata + PONS stimulate the intercostal muscles and the diphragm to contract in order to increase the rate and depth of breathing as to decrease levels of Carbon dioxide in the blood.

The thyroid gland secretes thyroxine which speeds up metabolism (the rate at which cells use glucose)
