Read this excerpt from The Riddle of the Rosetta Stone by James Cross Giblin. Only those Egyptians who needed the knowledge for

their professions learned how to read and write. These included government officials, doctors, and priests, as well as the scribes who did the actual writing on papyrus and stone. The schooling of a scribe began at age five or six and was usually completed by age sixteen. Through long, hard hours of practice, the student learned to paint or carve more than six hundred different hieroglyphs. He also learned how to write in hieratic, a flowing form of hieroglyphic writing in which the individual symbols were joined. What inference can be made based on the details in the excerpt? Professional writers in ancient Egypt were highly skilled. Ancient Egyptians read for pleasure. Children in ancient Egypt were treated harshly. All children in ancient Egypt learned to write in hieratic.

Answer:

The inference that can be made based on the details in the excerpt is that professional writers in ancient Egypt were highly skilled.

Explanation:

The passage presents evidence of how writing was an exclusive skill in Egyptian society. It was not taught to everyone in society at large but only government officials, administrators, and doctors or religious figures. The Rosetta Stone has helped Egyptologists to translate ancient Egyptian because there is an Ancient Greek translation of the hieroglyphs on the stone that was discovered in 1799.

Ket [755]

I see you have already provided an answer. I will, however, develop it further.

Answer and Explanation:

The external events in "The Most Dangerous Game", a short story by Richard Connell, affect an internal change within the main character, Sanger Rainsford. Rainsford is a famous hunter, who also happens to be quite arrogant about his luck and position in life. He does not care about what the animals he hunts feel. Rainsford is unable to empathize with their fear. According to him, the world is divided into hunters and huntees, and he is lucky to belong to the former instead of the latter.

However, Rainsford's luck changes drastically once he accidentally lands on General Zaroff's island. Zaroff, like Rainsford, is a hunter incapable of empathy for his prey. The difference lies in the fact that the general has grown tired of hunting irrational beasts. He now hunts man. And since Rainsford sees this as murder and refuses to hunt alongside him, Zaroff decides to make Rainsford his new prey.

Of course this conflict is bound to cause Rainsford to change internally. Just like an animal, Rainsford is at a disadvantage. He does not possess a gun, while Zaroff carries one and uses hound dogs to help him in his hunt. Rainsford is now no different than one of the beasts he used to hunt. Fear of death is what drives him - the basic instinct to survive that every single animal in the world has.

Of course, Rainsford is a human being. He is rational and intelligent enough to find a way to beat Zaroff. Still, until that happens, he suffers the agony of having to run for his life, to hide in fear. The external event of becoming a prey certainly changes Rainsford into a man capable of empathizing.

meriva

Answer:

Political revolt is a relevant topic today because it is very realistic, which makes readers identify with the narrative created in the stories.

Explanation:

Politics is something that causes polarization, since Shakespeare's time until today. This polarization can create coups and revolts within a country that completely change the lives of citizens. This is a fact that can happen in any country at any time and at any time, which is why Shakespeare's stories, which have a political revolt as a backdrop, are relevant today, that is, readers can identify with these situations because they are extremely real.
