The effects of a weight loss drug are standard normally distributed where negative data values represent weight loss. What is th

e probability a person loses 1.5 pounds or more? (round your answer to the nearest thousandth)My math:Weight loss of 1.5lbs, Z-score = -1.5Probability a person loses 1.5+ lbs = P(x > -1.5)1 – P(X > -1.5)1 - 0.0668 = 0.9332, or 0.932 (this answer was labeled as WRONG)Comment from online quiz: What is the z-score? How can you find the probability from the z-table?Please help clarify what I did wrong. Thanks! -Michelle

Answer:

P(X\leq -1.5) = P(X < -1.5)=P(Z

Step-by-step explanation:

For this case we know that our random variable X="weight loss or gain" is distributed on this way:

X \sim N (\mu =0, \sigma=1)

And we want the probability a person loses 1.5 pounds or more. If we interpret this an individual person losses 1.5 pounds or more if our random variable is equal or lower than 1.5. That means this:

P(X\leq -1.5) = P(X < -1.5)=P(Z

And for this case we can use the normal standard distribution or excel with the following code:

"=NORM.DIST(-1.5,0,1,TRUE)"

And we got:

P(X\leq -1.5) = P(X < -1.5)=P(Z

We need to remember that if the negative number decrease on the weight loss we are increasing the loss. For this reason we just need to find P(X<-1.5).

Circle O has a center at (-2, -2) and a diameter of 10 units. What point lies on circle O?
Sophie [7]

The point r(-6,-5)  lies on  the circle.

Explanation

Given that the center of the circle=(-2,-2)

diameter=10 units

we have to determine which point among the given points lies on the circle.

radius=diameter/2=10/2=5 units

let (x,y) be a point on the circle

The distance between the center and (x,y) is equal to the radius of the circle

The distance between them=\sqrt{(x-(-2))^2+y-(-2))^2}=5\\\\ \sqrt{(x+2)^2+(y+2)^2} =5\\\\

squaring both sides (x+2)^2+(y+2)^2=25\\

The option (-6,-5) satisfies the equation

therefore the point that lies on the circle is (-6,-5)

Old Workshop: 22,912,546,992

New/Old = 180.435

The new workshop can produce approximately 180 times as many toys as the old workshop.

The surface area of an oil spill gets 105% larger every day, represented by the function s(x) = (1.05)x − 1. On the first day, i
ioda
The given scenario above is like a geometric sequence with r or common ratio being 1.05 and the first term being 31 square meters. The nth term of the sequence is calculated through the equation,
                        A15 = (A1)(r)^(n - 1)
Substituting,
                        A15 = (31)(1.05)^(15 - 1) = 61.3778 square meter
Therefore, the area covered by the spill after the 15th day is approximately 61.4 square meters.

Photon Lighting Company determines that the supply and demand functions for its most popular lamp are as follows: S(p) = 400 - 4
BlackZzzverrR [31]
S(p) = 400 - 4p + 0.00002p^4
D(p) = 2800 - 0.0012p^3

S(p) = D(p)
400 - 4p + 0.00002p^4 = 2800 - 0.0012p^3
0.00002p^4 + 0.0012p^3 - 4p - 2400 = 0
p = $96.24

Cheese sticks that were previously priced at "10 for $1" are now "2 for $1". Find each percent change.
AysviL [449]

Answer:

The percent decrease in the number of cheese sticks you can buy for $1 is 80%.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Cheese sticks that were previously priced at "10 for $1" are now "2 for $1".

To find : The percent decrease in the number of cheese sticks you can buy for $1 ?

Solution :

The formula used to find percent decrease is given by,

\%\text{ change}=\frac{\text{Amount of change}}{\text{Original amount }}\times 100

The price change from 10 to 2,

\%\text{ change}=\frac{10-2}{10}\times 100

\%\text{ change}=\frac{8}{10}\times 100

\%\text{ change}=80\%

The percent decrease in the number of cheese sticks you can buy for $1 is 80%.
