Alex listed the typical steps of fossil formation. 1) An organism dies. 2) The remains fall to the bottom of the ocean. 3) The s

oft portions decay, and the hard portions remain. 4) The sediment becomes rock. Which statement describes the missing step? After step 3, layers of sediment cover the dead organism. After step 1, minerals dissolve the dead organism. After step 4, layers of sediment cover the dead organism. After step 2, minerals dissolve the dead organism.

Answer:

The answer is: After step 3, layers of sediment cover the dead organism.

Explanation:

Fossilization is the process by which living things are preserved as impressions on sedimentary rock (fossils). This is a rare process that occurs under the most appropriate conditions.

Process of Fossilization:

Permineralization is one of the most common types of fossilization. It involves the absorption of minerals into the remains, giving a detailed impression of the dead organism.

  1. The dead organism sink to the bottom of the ocean.
  2. The soft parts i.e. the tissue is decomposed whereas the hard parts of the body: the nails, bones and hair remain.
  3. The bones are gradually covered by sediments. The quality of the fossils often depends upon the type and quantity of sediment. River deltas have a large amount of sediment. This speeds up the process. Clay and mud sediments provide more detail to the fossil whereas sandy sediments render the details vague.
  4. Sedimentation is followed by permineralization. As layers of sediment accumulate over each other, the layers underneath turn to rock. This occurs due to the movement of minerals down to the seabed that harden the sediments. Minerals such as calcite may even replace the bones and other hard parts of the fossil, allowing it to remain preserved for long.
  5. The fossils discovered by archaeologists are present relatively closer to the surface of the Earth. This occurs due to the uplifting of rock layers due to the movement of the continental plates.

Answer: Mollusc

Explanation: Mollscs are the next biggest phylum of animals that do not have nor develop backbone which includes nearly 23% of every named individual being that embodies the properties of existence in the sea. However, they live in both flowing water like streams and springs and in still water like ponds and lakes, some also live on land. They are highly different in both in size and structure and in attitude and environment.

Charles Darwin observed a unique beak size and shape in the finch population of each of the Galapagos Islands that he visited. 4
Rasek [7]

Natural selection would probably favor different varieties in the different islands. In other words, beaks changed as the birds developed different tastes for fruits, seeds, or insects picked from the ground or cacti (due to lack of food resources). Long, pointed beaks made some of them more fit for picking seeds out of cactus fruits.

The Citric acid cycle occurs in the mitochondria. There are nine biochemical reactions involved in the Citric acid cycle, and th
Sauron [17]

Answer:

. 2C- acetyl Co-A from the link reaction  enters the kreb Cycle to combine with 4 Carbon Oxaloacetate to form 6-  Citrate

The Citrate forms intermediate Isocitrate, which eventually formed  6-C alpha ketoglutarate.

The alpha-ketoglutarate forms the intermediate succinyl-Co A, which later formed  5C-succinate.

5C -Succinate  forms 4C-fumarate, the latter formed 4C-malate- which eventually formed 4C-oxaloacetate.

The 4C of these compounds is fixed, to ensure constant availability of 4C of oxaloacatate for 2C Acetyl -CoA to bind it for the cycle to continuously occur for production of first product Citric Acid  from which other products are  formed from.

Thepotemich [5.8K]

Answer:

B. The amount of unbound cyclin E is lowest as the cell enters S.

Explanation:

The reproduction of the cell is a cycle that it regulates by itself, depending the  demand of a certain cell.

In the case of the mitosis, in Each change from G1 to S to G2 to M is regulated by some proteins like the cyclin.

In the case of the cdK2 is ncessary to pass the control point to pass from the stage G1 to the stage S.

Another characteristic of the cyclins, is that these proteins are synthetized and degraded constantly during the hole process.

Hope this is a useful info
