Answer:

Option (D)

Explanation:

Two plates move towards one another in the case of a convergent plate boundary. Due to this, a subduction zone is created, where the heavier crust sinks below the lighter one. This zone of subduction is commonly identified by the presence of a narrow V-shaped depression known as deep-sea trench.

As the subducting denser plate reaches the layer of the asthenosphere, the rocks undergo partial melting, and the melt produced from it mixes with the magma. This magma eventually moves upwards to reach the surface in the over-riding plate giving rise to the formation of volcanoes.

The subduction zone and the oceanic trench are two of the common features present in the convergent plate boundary.

Thus, the correct answer is option (D).

continental drift was first proposed by a scientist named alfred . he theorized that the were once one large landmass that drift
asambeis [7]

Answer: large-scale horizontal movements of continents relative to one another and to the ocean basins during one or more episodes of geologic time. This concept was an important precursor to the development of the theory of plate tectonics, which incorporates it.The idea of a large-scale displacement of continents has a long history. Noting the apparent fit of the bulge of eastern South America into the bight of Africa, the German naturalist Alexander von Humboldt theorized about 1800 that the lands bordering the Atlantic Ocean had once been joined. Some 50 years later, Antonio Snider-Pellegrini, a French scientist, argued that the presence of identical fossil plants in both North American and European coal deposits could be explained if the two continents had formerly been connected, a relationship otherwise difficult to account for. In 1908 Frank B. Taylor of the United States invoked the notion of continental collision to explain the formation of some of the world’s mountain ranges.

What influences both chemical weathering and mechanical weathering?
Nadusha1986 [10]
Chemical weathering and mechanical weathering can be influenced by plants. Plants contribute to mechanical weathering when their roots growth through cracks and crevasses in soil or rock. Overtime the roots will break rocks apart. Some plants produce and secrete organic acids that can change the chemical composition of rocks causing them to weather. Mechanical weathering breaks rocks into smaller pieces while chemical weathering changes the composition of the rocks.

The geocentric model, in all of its complexity, survived scientific scrutiny for almost 1400 years. However, in modern astronomy
Wittaler [7]

Answer:

The geocentric model appealed to mans' vanity, being in the center of everything. Simply, it satisfied their self-thought thus leaving no room for questioning its validity.

Explanation:

The geocentric and heliocentric models were the two main models proposed on how our solar system is laid out. Geocentric, coming from the word 'geo' meaning earth and 'centric' being center said that the Earth was the center of our solar system and the rest of the planets rotated and revolved around it. This model appealed to mans' vanity, this theory was promoted by Egyptian mathematician, Ptolemy. This theory was incorporated into religious dogma thus creating false credit. Ptolemy's calculations were correct, but his assumptions were not: the earth was motionless, circular orbits for planets, all celestial bodies orbit the earth etc. This was until Keppler and Galielo proved him wrong with his assumptions giving rise to the valid, Heliocentric model where the sun is the center of our solar system, planets have elliptical orbits and other planets had bodies orbiting them.
