Fibrous joints are immovable or fixed joints because they have the characteristic that they do not move. These joints have collagen which is a white connective tissue and it help in connection with other tissues.
Fibrous joints are mainly three types called sutures, gomphosis and syndesmosis.
Suture:
Suture is one of the fibrous tissue which only present in skull called cranal suture. There is tiny amount of movement present it sutures for elasticity of skull.
Gomphosis:
Gomphosis is found in the tooth which bind tooth with tooth socket bone by periodontal ligament. This joint is completely immovable.
*Peridontal ligament is the fibrous tissue which is present between tooth and tooth socket.
Syndesmosis:
Syndesmosis is found between tibia and fibula joint which is joined or connected by connective tissue (ligament). This fibrous joint is slightly moveable.
