Answer:

b. $20,000

Explanation:

Dividend is an amount of money that a company pays out its earnings and profits (E&P) and/or reserves on a regular basis, especially yearly, to its shareholders, especially ordinary shareholders and preference shareholders.

It should be noted that reserves are accumulated E&P. Therefore, a company that does not have accumulated E&P can only pay dividend out of its current E&P. Any amount paid in excess of the current profit after tax when there is no accumulated E&P cannot be considered as dividend.

From the question,

Cavalier's current year E&P = $40,000

Cavalier's accumulated E&P = 0

Aaron's Shareholding in Cavalier = 50%

Amount received by Aaron = $25,000

Cavalier's total amount that can be considered as dividend = Cavalier's current year E&P + Cavalier's accumulated E&P

Cavalier's total amount that can be considered as dividend = $40,000 + 0

                                                                                                   = $40,000

Dividend received by Aaron is Cavalier's total amount that can be considered as dividend multiply by Aaron's Shareholding in Cavalier. That is:

Dividend received by Aaron = $40,000 × 50%

                                               = $20,000

Amount received by Aaron but not dividend = Amount received by Aaron - Dividend received by Aaron

Amount received by Aaron but not dividend = $25,000 - $20,000

                                                                          = $5,000

Therefore, Aaron’s distribution that will be taxed as a dividend is $20,000 which is the actual dividend received by Aaron.

All the best.

photoshop1234 [79]

Answer:

Effect on income= (2,400,000)

Explanation:

Giving the following information:

Current selling price= $380

New selling price= $360

Unitary cost= $320

Units sold= 150,000*1.1= 165,000

<u>We need to calculate the effect on income:</u>

Effect on income= contribution margin new sales - contribution margin old sales

Effect on income= 15,000*(360 - 320) - 150,000*(380-360)

Effect on income= (2,400,000)

<u>Prove:</u>

New income= 165,000*40= 6,600,000

Actual income= 150,000*(380-320)= 9,000,000

Difference= (2,400,000)

Which statement best describes a significant similarity between the AICPA and IESBA codes? Both codes incorporate the conceptual
34kurt

Both codes incorporate the conceptual framework approach for evaluating threats when specific rules on a matter do not exist.

Explanation:

IFAC has enacted a Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants (IESBA Code), the International Ethics Standards Committee for Competent. The latest IESBA Code edition was upgraded and modified in July 2009 and comes into force on 1 January 2011. The adjustments clarified and considerably strengthened the independence specifications for all competent accountants.

IESBA and AICPA are more comparable than they are, but there are substantial differences. In many instances it will produce similar effects if codes are added to the same pattern of truth.

The IESBA Code deals with a number of possible independence issues which are covered by the AICPA Conceptual Structure but not AICPA. Examples include the Long Senior Human Resources Group (including Team Rotation).

Certain independence restrictions are enforced by the IESBA Code representing the "extent of public interest in certain companies" (i.e. entities listed on an accepted stock exchange for whose shares are listed), and institutions whose auditors are legally or administrative authorities required to comply with the same requirements for independence as the listings).

The IESBA splits the conditions for freedom into two regions. Section 290 offers the toughest prohibitions and includes accounting reports and audits. Section 291 generally provides less stringent requirements of freedom for all other insurance obligations. The AICPA does not change the principles of equality.

Dan purchases a 1000 par value 10-year bond with 9% semiannual couponsfor 925. He is able to reinvest his coupon payments at a n
damaskus [11]

Answer:

9.2%

Explanation:

Missing word <em>"Calculate his nominal annual yield rate convertible semiannually over the ten-year period"</em>

Semi annual coupon payments = 9% / 2 = 4.5%

Par value = 4.5% * 1,000 = $45

interest rate per period = r = 7% / 2 = 3.5%

Number of periods, n = 2 x 10 = 20

FV of all the coupons reinvested = 45 / r * [(1 + r)^n - 1]

FV of all the coupons reinvested = 45 / 3.5% * [(1 + 3.5%)^20 - 1]

FV of all the coupons reinvested = $1,272.59

Receipt of par value at the end of the 10 years = par value = 1,000

Total accumulated value at the end of 10 years =  $1,272.59 + 1,000

Total accumulated value at the end of 10 years = $2,272.59

Invested amount = $925

i = nominal interest convertible semi annually.

$925 * (1 + i / 2)^n = 2,272.59

925 * (1 + i / 2)^20 = 2,272.59

i = 2 * [(2,272.59 / 925)^1/20 - 1]

I = 9.19%

I = 9.2%

So, his nominal annual yield rate convertible semiannually over the ten-year period is 9.2%
