The Haida and the Maori shared many many values although had their notorious differences, One of those values is the importance of the family structure and how they took care of the family. Both stories, “The Maori: Genealogies and Origins in New Zealand” and “The Raven and the First Men: The Beginnings of the Haida,” refer to this important value. And both tribes also considered that nature has to be honored and respected for everything it represented and the nurturing the Earth offered them.
