Answer:

D) synthesize large quantities of lipids

Explanation:

The basic function of smooth endoplasmic reticulum (so called because of absence of ribosomes attached to the membrane) is secretion and transport of lipids, phospholipds  and steroids in cells.

They are mostly concentrated  in cells of testes, sebaceous glands of the skin and ovaries.  It is also present in muscle cells where it regulate ca+ concentration  needed for muscles contraction.

it plays active role in glucose metabolism, steroid metabolism. detoxification of some product of metabolisms in the body. In addition it contains enzymes involved in  the production of glucose from non-carbohydrate sources -gluconeogenesis .needed for muscles survival during glucose depletion.

When endoplasmic reticulum are attached by some ribosomes which makes their membrane rough, they are called rough endoplasmic reticulum. They are concerned with transport of proteins synthesized  by ribosomes.

An increased rate of breathing as a result of an increased buildup of carbon dioxide in the bloodstream would be best described
ValentinkaMS [17]

Answer;

Responsiveness

Excretion

Explanation;

Excess carbon dioxide must be removed from the body to stop it reaching toxic levels. As the blood flows through the lungs, excess carbon dioxide passes out of the blood and into the alveoli by diffusion. It is then removed from the lungs when we exhale (breathe out).

-Carbon dioxide helps remove carbon dioxide (a waste gas that can be toxic) from your body. The lungs' intake of oxygen and removal of carbon dioxide is called gas exchange. Gas exchange is part of breathing.

Step 8: Simulate an environment with equal amounts of insects and seeds, but no fruit. Which flock will be able to eat the most?
defon

The omnivorous flock will eat the most as it eats both insects and seeds. With the removal of fruit it will not be affected much.

The herbivorous flock will eat the least as it has the option to eat seeds only after the removal of fruit.

Explanation:

Let us take the example of Finches. Finches have many different species with different variations adaptable to conditions favorable as per availability of the type of food.

Lets say -

Species X and Y is provided with insects, seeds and fruit.

Species X - Omnivorous

Species Y - Herbivorous

The species X will be able to eat the most as it is an Omnivore.

The omnivorous flock will eat the most as it eats both insects and seeds. With the removal of fruit it will not be affected much.

Species Y will be able to eat the least as it is an herbivore.

The herbivorous flock will eat the least as it has the option to eat seeds only after the removal of fruit.

George on one pair of his chromosomes has STRs of lengths 6 and 7, Stephen (his father) STRs of lengths 3 and 6, and Mary (his m
JulijaS [17]

Answer:

Stephen is not his biological father.

Explanation:

DNA fingerprinting is a technique use to determine the DNA sequence of an individual organism. Short tandem repeats are unique among the individuals ans used to identify the individual in population.

The George DNA fingerprinting shows that he has STRs length of 6 and 7. Stephen's STRs does not match with his son George whereas Mary shows some similarities with George STRs. This indicates that Stephen is not the biological father of George because the biological father's STRs must match with the children STRs.

Thus, the correct answer is option (a).
