Read the passage carefully. Sarina was born in Puerto Rico, a small island in the Caribbean Sea that is an unincorporated territ

ory of the United States. She moved to Miami, Florida, with her parents and her brother a few years ago, but her grandma, whom she loves dearly, stayed behind. Sarina misses her grandma every single day but has found many ways to make her feel close. Her favorite thing to do is to bake the cookies they used to make together. Then, while eating them, she savors every taste of the memories they evoke.
Which connection can the reader make that is a text-to-world connection?

A) My grandmother still lives in Puerto Rico, and my brother and I video chat with her on Saturdays because we miss her so much.
B) I saw a news story about a Puerto Rican boy living in New York who calls home weekly to sing to his grandmother.
C) I am reading a book about a Puerto Rican family who moves to the US mainland, while the grandparents choose to stay behind.
D) Our neighbors moved here from Puerto Rico two years ago, and the family tells us that they miss their grandparents, who still live there.

MissTica

Answer:

"I also enlarged my mother's kitchen and pantry."

"Then Bart went off to college and I had use of the rest of the basement."

"Not only was this invention used in theaters, but it was sold to the Museum of Natural History and the New York Planetarium to project views of the heavens on the ceiling."

Explanation:

These are the statements that can be considered facts. Facts are objective statements that describe reality. The most important quality of facts is that they are falsifiable. This means that facts can be proven to be right or wrong. Facts are usually contrasted with opinions. Opinions are thoughts that a person has, but that are not necessarily shared by others. Moreover, opinions are not objectively right or wrong, they are subjective, as they express the unique point of view of a person, and depend on this for legitimacy.

Anastaziya [24]

Answer:

Tthe sentence which can be revised to eliminate redundancies is

B: Juan was costumed in disguise when he entered the room.

Explanation:

Redundancy in a sentence refers to same data being used more than once in a sentence just by using a different word. It doesn’t make a sentence grammatically wrong, but more than one similar word seems unnecessary. They make the writing weak and not appealing. So, redundancy should be avoided while writing.

In the given sentences, Juan was costumed in disguise when he entered the room has redundancy. “In disguise” means when one is dressed differently or has made a different appearance. So, given sentence can be written as “Juan was disguised when he entered the room”. Writing “costumed in disguise” makes the sentence redundant.
