Which excerpt from "The Catch” appeals to readers’ sense of hearing to help them imagine a scene? His legs and thigh muscles ach

ed as he trudged through the final swampland. He tried to thrust off Rohan’s shoulders to push himself over in as though they were in a game of leap frog. Just then, an old elf released a great eagle from its shackles, a signal for the race to start. When it squawked to freedom, the race began. The gentle foothills ended quickly, and the runners made a steep scramble to the top of a cliff, followed by a daylong run up across uneven terrain of hard, coarse-grained rock.

algol13

Answer:

The correct answer is Great care was taken to keep the truth from the public.

Explanation:

The ambulance members were trying not to be seen by any person when they were going to the monkey house. That's why they wore camouflaged suits, and no member of the ambulance wore the suit they should be wearing.

They even parked in the backyard of the house to avoid being seen.

All this is evidence that they wanted to hide the truth from the public.

1. In Around the World in Eighty Days, Phileas Fogg makes an impulsive wager that he can travel around the world in eighty days
Fittoniya [83]
It affects the story because it makes it more objective. Passepartout doesn't have a personal bias in the matter and doesn't have anything to prove so he doesn't react impulsively and affectionately. You can use this idea and expand it a bit to get the two necessary paragraphs. Be sure to add citations from the actual book.

As many landfills run out of space, some communities are making plans and tackling their heaping piles of garbage with innovativ
Lelu [443]

Answer:

Of the sentences provided, it is number 4 that would be the best alternative topic sentence for this paragraph about innovations in what to do with the household waste we produce. The alternative topic sentence would be: "The costs and pollution generated by landfills force communities to think creatively about what to do with everything we throw out."

Explanation:

The fourth option is the most appropriate as an alternative topic sentence because it is the alternative sentence that best summarizes the topics in the paragraph.  The paragraph mentions that not everything we throw out is recycled, and cities are responding by looking for ways to expand recycling, or turning trash into energy. They have also been looking at ways to speed up the process of decomposition to make landfills more efficient. These points can be summarized as concerns about costs and concerns about pollution as detailed in sentence number 4.

Sentence number 2 is just a repeat of the original topic sentence.  Sentence 1 does not really incorporate the idea of making the waste decompose faster which was one of the options. And sentence 3 repeats information in the paragraph and does not really summarize all points.
