When there is a tapping at the door in “The Raven” by Edgar Allan Poe, the speaker thinks it is a visitor. The speaker’s fear and curiosity are intensified by the rustling of his purple curtain

<h3 /><h3>Explanation: </h3>

Poetry is a type of literature, or artistic writing that attempts to stir a reader's imagination or emotions. There are three main kinds of poetry such as narrative, dramatic and lyrical. An epic poem can contain lyrical passages, or lyrical poem can contain narrative parts.

"The Raven" is a narrative poem written by American writer Edgar Allan Poe. Edgar Allan Poe was an American writer, editor, and literary critic. Poe is best known for his poetry and short stories particularly his tales of mystery and the macabre.  "The Raven" was first published in January 1845. The poem is often noted for its musicality and stylized language.

In the third stanza of the poem "The Raven", the narrator states

<em>"...And the silken, sad, uncertain rustling of each purple curtain </em>

<em>Thrilled me—filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before; </em>

<em>So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating, </em>

<em>"'Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door— </em>

<em>Some late visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door;— </em>

<em>               This it is and nothing more...."</em>

The narrator feels fearful and fascinated by this mysterious visitor.

Which persuasive appeal does Mary Wollstonecraft use in these
maksim [4K]

Answer:

C). Logical.

Explanation:

The chief aim of an author is to persuade or convince his audience to believe in the claims proposed by him/her. To persuade the audience, a number of appeals or 'modes of persuasion'(as Aristotle stated') like pathos(emotional appeal), ethos(ethical appeal), or logos('logical appeal').

Mary Wollstonecraft's 'A Vindication of the Rights of Women' is one of the acknowledged feminist work that aims to highlight the position of women in the society and demanded equal educational, social, and moral rights for them.

As per the question, these lines '....when the short....respectable'(assumed) employs logical appeal to demand the women's rights logically by questioning the 'rationality' and asking them to reflect their rationality(in providing the rights to women) and become more 'masculine and respectable'. Thus, <u>option C</u> is the correct answer.

Sentence Structure Quiz
DIA [1.3K]

Answer:

1. I was late for work. - <em><u>a. Simple.</u></em>

2. He failed the test because he did not study hard enough. - <em><u>c. Complex.</u></em>

3. Even though pollution is widespread, people are doing little to prevent it. - <u><em>c. Complex.</em></u>

4. Animals should not be killed for their fur, but this is still occurring, so action must be taken. - <u><em>b. Compound.</em></u>

5. I came to study in the UK because I wanted to improve my English, so I talk to as many English people as possible. - <u><em>d. Compound-complex.</em></u>

Explanation:

A simple sentence is one that simply states a sentence with a single clause, a subject, and a verb.

Compound sentences have two or more clauses joined together by the conjunctions "for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so" (FANBOYS).

Complex sentences are almost similar to compound sentences except that they are joined not with the FANBOYS but subordinate conjunctions.

Compound-complex sentences are those sentences that are similar to complex sentences but added with another simple or compound sentence added to the sentence.

In the given sentences, sentence 1 is a simple sentence for it simply states a statement.

Sentence 2 and 3 are complex sentences as they are joined by the subordinating conjunctions "because" and "even though".

Sentence 4 is a compound sentence as it is joined by the coordinating conjunctions "but" and "so".

Sentence 5 is a compound-complex sentence as it has both subordinating conjunction "because" and coordinating conjunction "so".

Hi.
Butoxors [25]

Perhaps take from my answer. Sorry if this isn't good, i'm a bit tired. You can add on and change up the words. I was unsure what was exactly wanted for this.

Answer:

Hello, as the speaker of this, I say the motion is correct. Modern movies are run by acting and scripts, while people are off script and anything could truly happen. Younger people tend to leach from what they see on T.V. and from elders, thus certain movies may give them bad views. Say with common action movies: That would most likely give the person a taste of violence as an answer. Humans can be violent, but are not always fighting like how thrillers and action movies show. People do break out into fights, just not like that. If someone was trying to figure out how some commonly interact and behave from a movie, it wouldn't be a good choice, since that would provide the wrong view. Unless it's a documentary or educational film, modern movies do indeed give a bad model. It is understandable for others to have different opinions on this matter, this is my own. Thank you for your time.
