Answer:

Nick and Teresa are debating the pricing strategy of several airlines. Nick argues, "When airlines restrict discounted tickets to people who book well in advance and stay over on a Saturday, it is not price discrimination, because the restrictions have nothing to do with individual buyers' willingness to pay." However, Teresa says, "The airlines' stay-over restrictions are a form of price discrimination, because they roughly split the market into two separate groups that are willing to pay two different amounts. Economists generally agree with Eric or Kate?

Economists would agree with Teresa.

Explanation:

Generally, economists would agree with Teresa because her argument is correct since by using stay over on a Saturday restriction, Airlines can divide the market based on their readiness to pay and is thus able to tap both markets.

Vlad1618 [11]

Answer with its Explanation:

Step 1:

First of all record a loan of $3 million loan:

Dr Bank $3,000,000

Cr Loan      $3,000,000

Step 2:

Finance charge will be 3% on this loan amount:

Dr Finance Charge $3million *3% = $90,000

Cr                   Bank                                       $90,000

The importance of flower farming is increasing day by day in nepal. Justify this statement. please write long ans
devlian [24]

Answer:

Prior to 1990, there were a number of nurseries within the valley as well as a few outside that cultivated flowers, but the trend then was more towards producing potted plants, seeds, bulbs and suchlike. There was no large market for cut flowers of the variety available now, in part because there was very little demand due to a lack of market exposure to cut flowers. People in Kathmandu just did not use them on a regular basis. According to nursery owners, there was at that time only a small demand amongst the expatriate community and amongst the Indian community. On November 15 1992 however, the Floriculture Association of Nepal or FAN was formed, and this marked the beginning of the floriculture industry in Nepal.

FAN was formed by 11 nursery owners with the objective of promoting and enhancing the floriculture industry and the emergence of flowers in the Katmandu market can in fact be attributed to the training in flower arrangement that FAN conducted in 1993. Following this training, they initiated the opening of a wholesale market and the support FAN gave to the organization 'Women in Floriculture' project enabled several entrepreneurs to set up flower retail outlets. This supply driven demand resulted in flowers being made available in the market and the market responded by taking up this supply. Business has since improved as demonstrated by the change in demand from around 100 rose stems a day in 1992 to 3000 stems in 2003 and from 100 gladiolus stems  in 1992 to 6000 in 2003. Figures from FAN put the total sale of cut flowers at 10 million in 1992, which went up to 70.2 million in 2003.

The domestic market for cut flowers is in fact increasing according to Suresh Bhakta Shrestha of Standard Nursery in Bansbari. He says that in 1993 150 thousand Nepali Rupees was the total turnover for all the shops that sold flowers in Kathmandu. This figure is now around 80 to a 100 thousand Rupees per month per shop! Latest figures also suggest that there are there are currently around 300 nurseries and 40 retail shops within the Kathmandu valley. This information suggests that floriculture has grown very rapidly and that the flower culture here continues to grow.

1)If the firm's advertising budget is $32,000 (instead of $40,000) and the firm allocates it optimally over the four quarters, t
dangina [55]

Answer:

hi your question is incomplete this the complete question

As product marketing manager, one of our jobs is to prepare recommendations to the Executive Committee as to how advertising expenditures should be allocated. Last year’s advertising budget of $40,000 was spent in equal increments over the four quarters. Initial expectations are that we will repeat this plan in the coming year. However, the Committee would like to know if some other allocation would be advantageous, and whether the total budget should be changed.

Our product sells for $40 and costs us $25 to produce. Sales in the past have been seasonal, and our consultants have estimated seasonal adjustment factors for unit sales as follows:

  Q1   90%

  Q2   110%

  Q3   80%

  Q4   120%

(A seasonal adjustment factor measures the percent of average quarterly demand experienced in a given quarter.)

In addition to production costs, we must take into account the cost of the sales force (projected to be $34,000 over the year, allocated as follows: Q1 and Q2, $8000 each; Q3 and Q4, $9000 each), the cost of advertising itself, and overhead (typically around 15% of revenues).

Quarterly unit sales seem to run around 4000 units when advertising is around $10,000. Clearly, advertising will increase sales, but there are limits to its impact. Our consultants several years ago estimated the relationship between advertising and sales. Converting that relationship

Answer : 29.56

Explanation:

firms advertising budget = $3200 instead of $40000

allocating the budget across the four quarters optimally i.e based on the production cost demand and other financial factors the firm's break even production cost based on the allocated advertising budget of $32000 instead of $40000 will be 29.56 after considering mostly the effect of the advertising which will lead to increase in sales of the product as well
