Answer:

Prior to 1990, there were a number of nurseries within the valley as well as a few outside that cultivated flowers, but the trend then was more towards producing potted plants, seeds, bulbs and suchlike. There was no large market for cut flowers of the variety available now, in part because there was very little demand due to a lack of market exposure to cut flowers. People in Kathmandu just did not use them on a regular basis. According to nursery owners, there was at that time only a small demand amongst the expatriate community and amongst the Indian community. On November 15 1992 however, the Floriculture Association of Nepal or FAN was formed, and this marked the beginning of the floriculture industry in Nepal.

FAN was formed by 11 nursery owners with the objective of promoting and enhancing the floriculture industry and the emergence of flowers in the Katmandu market can in fact be attributed to the training in flower arrangement that FAN conducted in 1993. Following this training, they initiated the opening of a wholesale market and the support FAN gave to the organization 'Women in Floriculture' project enabled several entrepreneurs to set up flower retail outlets. This supply driven demand resulted in flowers being made available in the market and the market responded by taking up this supply. Business has since improved as demonstrated by the change in demand from around 100 rose stems a day in 1992 to 3000 stems in 2003 and from 100 gladiolus stems  in 1992 to 6000 in 2003. Figures from FAN put the total sale of cut flowers at 10 million in 1992, which went up to 70.2 million in 2003.

The domestic market for cut flowers is in fact increasing according to Suresh Bhakta Shrestha of Standard Nursery in Bansbari. He says that in 1993 150 thousand Nepali Rupees was the total turnover for all the shops that sold flowers in Kathmandu. This figure is now around 80 to a 100 thousand Rupees per month per shop! Latest figures also suggest that there are there are currently around 300 nurseries and 40 retail shops within the Kathmandu valley. This information suggests that floriculture has grown very rapidly and that the flower culture here continues to grow.

lubasha [3.4K]

Answer:

$3,000 understated

Explanation:

The computation of the working capital in case of no correcting entries made is shown below:

= Depreciation Expense for 2020 - depreciation expense for year 2021 - ending inventory for 2021

= $18,000 - $6,000 - $9,000

= $3,000 understated

While there is no additional errors occurred and no correcting entries passed so in this the $3,000 is understated by above calculation

BabaBlast [244]

Answer:

The answer is below

Explanation:

The graph is attached below.

a) The price elasticity of demand is given by:

price elasticity of demand = \frac{\%\ change\ in\ quantity }{\%\ change\ in\ price}=\frac{\Delta Q}{\Delta P}

\Delta Q=\frac{Q_2-Q_1}{(Q_2+Q_1)/2} \\\\\Delta P=\frac{P_2-P_1}{(P_2+P_1)/2}

Price of elasticity demand =   \frac{\frac{Q_2-Q_1}{(Q_2+Q_1)/2} }{\frac{P_2-P_1}{(P_2+P_1)/2} }

Price of elasticity demand =   \frac{\frac{50-100}{(50+100)/2} }{\frac{4.5-4}{(4.5+4.0)/2} }=\frac{-0.6667}{0.1176} =5.7

Since the price of elasticity demand > 1, it is elastic

b) Price of elasticity demand =   \frac{\frac{200-300}{(200+300)/2} }{\frac{3-2}{(3+2)/2} }=\frac{-0.4}{0.4} =1

Since the price of elasticity demand = 1, it is unitary

c) Price of elasticity demand =   \frac{\frac{400-450}{(400+450)/2} }{\frac{1-0.5}{(1+0.5)/2} }=\frac{-0.1176}{0.6667} =0.18

Since the price of elasticity demand < 1, it is inelastic

Fed [463]

Answer:

We have to assume specific tax rate to come up with the income tax expenses. Let assume the tax rate is 30%.

The income tax expense in year 2: $53,400.

Explanation:

We have:

Depreciation expenses of the equipment in the second year = (Initial cost - salvage value) / Useful life = (168,000 - 0)/4 = $42,000.

Profit before tax in year 2 = Sales in year 2 - operating expenses in year 2 - Depreciation expenses in year 2 = 520,000 - 300,000 - 42,000 = $178,000.

Income tax expense in year 2 = Profit before tax in year 2 x tax rate = 178,000 x 30% = $53,400.

So, the answer is $53,400.

Darya [45]

Answer:

As this example illustrates, companies like Netflix must engage in <u>ONGOING STRATEGIC PLANNING</u> to remain relevant and competitive in the ever-changing environment of technology advancements, social trends, and legal regulations.

Explanation:

When a company develops a strategic plan, management is setting the business direction of the company. This means setting up a long term plan for the company to follow, but strategic plans cannot be fixed.

Strategic planning must always be an ongoing and fluid process, since markets are not static, nor your competitors will just sit around waiting for you to decide what to do. Your competition will constantly try to find ways to increase their market and lower yours, so you must respond accordingly.

In this case, Disney last year launched their own online service and that is going to be tough for Netflix, but if it isn't Disney, ti would be some other company.

I would say that Rose's idea is based on an analysis of the seniority of the employees and the time between their promotions and apparently is to help the longer term employees to obtain promotions and thus encourage them to strive to become even better employees perhaps in new positions.
