Water is essential for survival. It is important to understand the factors that affect water balance and the best sources to hel
Ludmilka [50]

Answer:

2-Water helps maintain body temperature.

3-Diuretics like alcohol and some medications can cause the body to lose water.

Explanation:

Dehydration occurs when the amount of what loss is more than the amount taken. And we lose water in many ways therefore taking water on a regular basis is important to replace the fluids lost and keep the body functioning.

Water Maintains the Body Temperature

During high temperature, the body cools itself naturally by sweating and by sweating a large amount of water is lost. So when enough water is not taken, there will be less production of sweating thereby causing the body's temperature to rise.

Alcohol Causes Water Loss

Taking excess alcohol can result to dehydration because the hormone called anti-diuretic (while alcohol is diuretic) is used to reabsorb water by the body and alcohol in the body depletes the production of this hormone. The body loses more water than normal with a reduced amount of anti-diuretic in the body. Excessive intake of alcohol can also cause vomiting, which depletes the body of fluids and can cause further dehydration.

Comparing the forensic use of DNA fingerprinting and traditional fingerprinting produced by ink on a piece of paper, which fact
Marina CMI [18]

Answer:

The correct answer would be Both types of fingerprints can often be easy to obtain from the crime scene.

DNA fingerprinting is a technique used for a paternity test and in establishing a link between the biological evidence and suspect in the crime, identification of dead bodies et cetera.

It is based on the similarities and differences associated with the DNA sequence of organisms especially the non-coding or junk DNA.

The DNA fingerprints are developed in labs, they are not found at crime scenes.

At the crime scene, pieces of biological evidence such as blood, skin, hair et cetera are taken from which DNA could be extracted.

Lipids contain more energy that carbohydrates because they contain more carbon to hydrogen bonds to release energy when broken.

<span>A macromolecule is a large molecule. There are four groups of macromolecules: carbohydrates, proteins, nucleic acids and lipids. Lipids consist of glycerol and fatty acids and are constructed from fats, oils, waxes, phospholipids and steroids. A lipid's function is to insulate the body and provide warmth in cold conditions. It can be concluded that a person with very little body fat gets very cold easily and a person with a lot of body fat gets very warm very quickly.

What is a consequence of the specific heat capacity for liquid water, ice and water vapor
Arisa [49]

<em>Water has unique chemical characteristics in all three states—solid, liquid, and gas—thanks to the ability of its molecules to hydrogen bond with one another. Since living things, from human beings to bacteria, have a high water content, understanding the unique chemical features of water in its three states is key to biology. </em>

<em>In liquid water, hydrogen bonds are constantly being formed and broken as the water molecules slide past each other. The breaking of these bonds is caused by the energy of motion (kinetic energy) of the water molecules due to the heat contained in the system. </em>

<em>When the heat is raised (for instance, as water is boiled), the higher kinetic energy of the water molecules causes the hydrogen bonds to break completely and allows water molecules to escape into the air as gas. We observe this gas as water vapor or steam. </em>

<em>On the other hand, when the temperature drops and water freezes, water molecules form a crystal structure maintained by hydrogen bonding (as there is too little heat energy left to break the hydrogen bonds). This structure makes ice less dense than liquid water.</em>
