If we say simple predicate, this only refers to the main verb that is used in the sentence. So based on the given sentence above, the simple predicate is the word "arrived" and this is the main verb which describes the subject which is "nurse". Hope this answers your question.

The simple predicate in the sentence "The nurse in the white uniform arrived at the hospital just in time" is D. arrived.

The simple predicate is the main verb or verb phrase in a sentence. In other words, the simple predicate indicates what the subject is doing and it is different from the complete predicate, which includes the verb/verb phrase and also the modifiers. In order to identify the simple predicate it is important to ask ourselves what the subject does or is. In the case of this sentence, the verb "arrived" is what indicates what the nurse did; therefore, "arrived" is the simple predicate.

"the tenant men scuffed home to the farms through the red dust." Which sentence best describes Steinbeck's diction here?
lesantik [10]
The diction of Steinbeck here in apparently describing the dustbowl conditions of the Dirty Thirties is speaking of "tenant men" or presumably men who were tenant farmers perhaps who were allowed to live on the land in return for working it and that they "scuffed" their way home indicates that the dust was so thick they had to scuff but also perhaps that since they could barely make a living under the poor agricultural conditions they did not walk confidently but scuffed.

Which choice should be placed in the blank to create the most positive connotation?
3241004551 [841]

Answer:

Extraordinary

Explanation:

The answer is extraordinary because out of all the other words, it it's more positive. Outlandish, strange, and unusual would put a negitive impact on the sentence.

The aye-aye is one of the most extraordinary looking creatures on earth.
