This question is incomplete. Here´s the complete question.

Read the passage and then answer the question:

The Battle of Midway was the turning point in the Pacific theater of

World War II. American planes did significant damage to the Empire of

Japan's fleet, turning back an offensive that had begun with the attack

on Pearl Harbor. The battle is notable because it was the first naval

engagement in which neither fleet was within sight of the other. All of

the fighting was conducted by carrier-based planes.

Which sentence avoids plagiarizing the passage?

A. Tricia Gomez writes that the Battle of Midway was an important victory for the Americans, changing the course of World War II in the Pacific

B. All of the fighting at the Battle of Midway, writes Tricia Gomez, was conducted by carrier-based planes instead of by the ships themselves.

C. Midway is known as the first battle in which two navies engaged each other without ever coming into visual contact, relying instead on planes.

D. The Battle of Midway is noteworthy because it was the first naval battle in which neither side was within sight of the other, according to Tricia Gomez.

Answer: D. The Battle of Midway is noteworthy because it was the first naval battle in which neither side was within sight of the other, according to Tricia Gomez.

Explanation:

Although all the provided options seem to paraphrase the original content, option D is the only one that doesn´t incur on plagiarism.

Option C fails to cite Tricia Gomez as the source of the paraphrased sentence. And even when correctly citing the original author, changing the meaning of the original source, even slightly, such as on option A and B, is also a form of plagiarism.

Therefore, option D is the only one that avoids plagiarism.

bearhunter [10]

Answer:

All modern scientific disciplines, from astronomy to sociology, trace their roots to philosophy, and psychology is no exception. The discipline of psychology emerged in the nineteenth century, but before, there were many philosophers who made contributions to the field of study. Two examples are Plato, and Kant. Both of them were curious about the workings of the mind, and developed philosophical theories to explain how it worked.

Dear Diary,

It is interesting how life is full of surprises and we can find satisfaction and happiness in situations that we have not planned. It is even more interesting when that satisfaction and happiness is generated when we help other people. I did not imagine that relieving, even a little, the suffering of others would do so much good for my soul and my spirit leaving me so satisfied with myself.

I have always thought that I would only find happiness in actions aimed at my own satisfaction, but by helping a beggar and allowing him to have a little satisfaction in his difficult life journey, I was happy. I liked to take some of the difficulties that the beggar goes through and give him a little comfort generated comfort for me too.

I was also fully happy, excited and full when adopting a pet cat. Knowing that this animal will have a home to protect it and that it will no longer be hungry and thirsty or mistreated, fills my soul with joy.

I intend to do good deeds frequently, because I want to feel this feeling forever, in addition to contributing to the happiness of others.

bulgar [2K]

The correct answer is direct.

Direct feedback refers to feedback that is given in a straightforward manner, with concrete suggestions and advice. In this instance, Maria's supervisor's feedback is direct, because the supervisor tells Maria the exact strategies and ways in which Maria can do her job more quickly. Direct feedback when offered objectively (without harshly criticizing someone) is effective in helping someone improve their performance and outcomes.
