Read the excerpt from chapter 8 of The Travels of Marco Polo. They have plenty of ambergris, because whales abound in these seas

, and also cachalots. And since they catch great numbers of both, they are never short of ambergris; for you know it is the whale that produces ambergris. They have leopards and lynxes and lions also in great numbers. Other beasts, such as harts, stags, and roebuck and such-like game animals, are also abundant, besides game-birds of many kinds. There are also many ostriches of huge size. The great diversity of birds, quite different from ours, is truly marvelous. Which quotation from the excerpt best reflects the author’s subjective perspective about the fauna of Madagascar? “They have plenty of ambergris, because whales abound in these seas, and also cachalots.” “They have leopards and lynxes and lions also in great numbers.” “Other beasts, such as harts, stags, and roebuck and such-like game animals, are also abundant, besides game-birds of many kinds.” “The great diversity of birds, quite different from ours, is truly marvelous.”

In "its only fair," the point of view is?
nikdorinn [45]

Answer:

First person point of view.

Explanation:

The first-person point of view illustrates the writing from the narrator's point of view or perspective with the use of the pronoun "I" or "We" contrary to a second or third person point of view that employs "you" or "They" as a pronoun. The narrator is the witness to the story who keeps an "eye" over the events or observes the series of events that carry the story. Thus, <em>"It's only fair" exemplifies the first person point of view as it employs "I" or "We" which is described from Avery's point of view.</em>

Which of the following best describes Upton Sinclair, Ida Tarbell, and Frank Norris's impact on journalism? They were among the
True [87]

Upton Sinclair, Ida Tarbell and Frank Norris were amont the first journalists to publicize immoral, corrupt practices of large industries during the Progressive Era.

Upton Sinclair was an American writer who won the Pulitzer Prize. In 1904, Fred Warren, editor of the socialist newspaper Appeal to Reason, commissioned him a report on the bad practices of the food industry that would become the novel The Jungle, an unprecedented sales success and a huge international commotion.  As a consequence, President Theodore Roosevelt received the author in the White House and put in place laws to ensure the quality of food for human consumption.

Ida Tarbell was an American professor, writer and journalist, considered one of the main "muckrakers" of the Progressive Era.  She is known for her research on John D. Rockefeller and the Standard Oil Company; her investigations exposed the unfair monopolistic practices carried out by the company until the Supreme Court decided to dissolve the monopoly.

Frank Norris was an American correspondent and novelist. Between 1895 and 1896, he worked as a correspondent in South Africa. Between 1896 and 1897, he was assistant editor of the San Francisco Wave. During the Spanish-American War, Norris was a correspondent in Cuba for McClure's magazine, being critical of American interventionist policies in the war.

The correct answer is C. Overgeneralization.

Explanation

The fallacy of overgeneralization is a type of fallacy that is characterized by hastily establishing a consequence of a fact without logically reasoning about it. For example, the sentence in the question is a fallacy of overgeneralization because establishing how will be a person's day only for consuming a product in the morning lacks reasoning and evidence. This fallacy as in this example is widely used by industries to get the attention of buyers offering them some good effect just by using the products they sell. So, the correct answer is C. Overgeneralization.
