The feelings of loss that pervade "Mr. Flood's Party" are common in modernist poetry, which is often tinged with diminished expectations. Written by American author Edwin Arlington Robinson and first published in 1921, the poem tells the story of a friendless man who has seen many people change and who now feels he has outlived his time. The whole poem is characterized by the feelings of loss and diminished expectations that pervade the main character, that are also associated with modernist poetry. Mr Flood represents the modern man and how he is alienated from society as he finds human interactions meaningless and dissatisfying.

Alik [6]

Answer:

The unpleasant episode can be seen in the third chapter of the text where Grete was playing her violin and the boarders as well as her family were around, listening.

Explanation:

Franz Kafka's science fictional novella "Metamorphosis" tells the story of how the character Gregor Samsa's transformation into a bug had sent his life in turmoil. The bug became a menace to his family and even ruined their family's income source, leading them to finally move some place else.

The scene where Gregor had ruined his family's prospects was in Chapter III where he had been seen by the boarders. In order to maintain their family sustenance, they had given one of the rooms for boarding and it had been occupied by three gentlemen for sometime now. One day, while Grete was playing the violin, the music drew Gregor to it and he went nearer. But the boarders saw the disgusting creature and threatened to leave immediately. Not only that, they even told Gregor's father that due to the deplorable and odorous situation of the place, they will not be paying even for the previous days' stay.

This scene not only left them with no income but it was also the scene where the whole family decided it's time to get rid of Gregor, for he is a bug and not their son Gregor. This is the unpleasant episode that occurred between Gregor and his family and also the boarders, centered on the music played by Grete.

Marisol is planning a ski trip for winter break. Explain how each of the following might play a role in her perception of the wi
Vinil7 [7]

Answer:

a). 'Absolute Threshold' is demonstrated as the least or minimum stimulation or arousal required to detect or perceive a specific external stimulus by our senses(sight, smell, touch, vision, hear) at least half of the time(50%). In the given situation, Marisol would require to feel the ardor of the atmosphere around her to discover the actual temperature, at least half of the time.

b). The difference threshold is exemplified as the difference of variation that is required between two external stimuli to be able to perceive a difference among them. In the given situation, if there's change/variation in the temperature Marisol would be able to detect it due to the existence of a difference between the two temperatures.

c). Selective attention is described as indulging your focus selectively onto one particular stimulus while ignoring the others at the same time. Such attention would contribute to Marisol to focus on specific stimuli associated with the winter weather.
