describe how paleomagnetic evidence supports the theory that continents change position (drift) over time.
umka21 [38]

Answer:

Explanation:

At constructive margins such the mid oceanic ridge where new magma are brought to the surface, evidences abounds to support the theory of continental drift through paleomaganetism.

Continental drift is simply the moving of the land masses on earth from their original positions.

There are certain magnetic minerals in rocks that are able to record the prevailing magnetic conditions in a particular terrane. In a hot magma, at the oceanic ridge for example, these minerals align to the magnetic direction at work during the period when they are cooling. As new materials upwells, the cool layer shifts away from the margin each bearing the paleomagnetic record.

Therefore, through a series of reversals and normality in the magnetic direction, one can deduce that the continents actually moves.

In unusually cold winters the northern black sea sometimes freezes while the nearby adriatic sea usually does not in the same co
k0ka [10]
Fresh water freezes at 32 degrees Fahrenheit, and as salinity increases, the required temperature to freeze decreases. The freezing point for water at 18 0/00 is 30.233 degrees Fahrenheit. So, for the black sea to freeze, it would need to be less than about thirty and a quarter degrees in both areas. Further for the Adriatic not to freeze it must be assumed that the Adriatic's salinity is higher, probably significantly higher as to avoid even partially freezing. Furthermore, as the Black Sea's decreased salinity is attributed to nearby freshwater runoff, it is safe to assume that the Adriatic Sea either A) Has little or no freshwater runoff, or B) Has a mitigating factor that negates any freshwater runoff, allowing the salinity of its water to remain high.

How was the Arizona-Sonoran region developed a separate identity that is neither American nor Mexican?
Valentin [98]

Answer:

Arizona and Sonora share the same ecosystem, the Sonoran Desert region. They share common history, several Native American tribes on both sides of the border, and they have six border twin towns. The natural boundary is 361 miles long and it has never been a totally closed border. Arizona needed Sonora's miners and ranchers and they have been the biggest source of migrants to the USA.

Because of the constant flow of people across the border, the Arizona-Sonora region developed its own separate identity. Many people living there are bilingual and commute daily to the other side of the border for work. Their value system has been affected by the proximity of a different culture. As a result of that, intercultural and interracial mixing took place that created a generation of people who feel a connection to both countries at the same time. Prejudices have been reduced and stereotypes abolished.

The interdependence between the USA and Mexico has always been and still is business related. Starting with vegetables trading, the cross border shopping and manufacturing developed into big industry today. A major economy connection has developed through the maquiladora sector. Arizona based companies operate about 30% of maquiladoras in Sonora and Sonora's economy is dependent on this and the automobile industry in Arizona.

Cross-border shopping, tourism ( for pleasure and medical reasons), joined environmental projects, bilingual schools and cultural events are all parts of the interdependence between the two countries.

Answer:

Eolian sedimentary environment

Explanation:

Winds can transport many different-sized particles of material from the ground through the process of erosion. These particles might travel many kilometers until they deposit somewhere. Regions with scarce vegetation have too much dust and grain-sized particles that move and crush each other, increasing erosion. This process is known as eolic erosion.

The most prominent accumulations of wind deposits are the dunes. However, there are other smaller accumulations such as the ripples and other larger ones called Draas. Their main differences are in addition to size, is the wavelength between them.

Dunes are winds deposits, formations that are, in general, typical of deserts. Dunes are orientated according to the direction and speed of winds, to the presence of loose material, and vegetation. Strong winds transport material until it collides with an object or obstacle where it is deposited, originating a new dune.

Dunes are very dynamic formations that are constantly being remodeled by the direction and strength of the winds. Dunes always have a soft slope and a sharp one. The soft slope is directed to the area or region where the wind is coming from and is the product of the wind erosion on the same dune. The opposite sharp slope is protected from the wind and is the deposition place, where the wind losses strength and the carrying material falls, depositing in this side of the dune.

Sinkiang is a desert in China. Placing yourself at 39 05 52.46N 84 30 56.16E lets you appreciate the duned shape of the ground. By zooming in and out, you can notice the soft and sharp slopes that are forming each of the dunes and the distance between them.
