Answer:

270 girls

Step-by-step explanation:

Total number of students = 380

Play musical instrument = 70%

Boys who play musical instrument = 60%

Number of girls who play musical instrument = 200

How many girls are in the class?

Number of play musical instrument = 70% of 380

(0.7 * 380) = 266

Since number of girls who play musical instrument = 200

Then number of boys who play = (266 - 200) = 66

Hence, 66 boys is equivalent 60% of the boy's population

Let population of boys = b

0.6b = 66

b = 110

Number of girls in class :

Number of boys + number of girls

110 + number of girls = 380

Number of girls = 380 - 110

Number of girls = 270

A company administers an "aptitude test for managers" to aid in selecting new management trainees. Prior experience suggests tha
RoseWind [281]

Answer:

0.94

Step-by-step explanation:

The question after this basically is:

<em>"If the applicant passes the "aptitude test for managers", what is the probability that the applicant will succeed in the management position?"</em>

<em />

So,

P(successful if hired) = 60% = 0.6 [let it be P(x)]

P(success at passing the test) = 85% = 0.85   [let it be P(y)]

P(successful and pass the test) =  P(x) + P(y) -[P(x)*P(y)]

So,

P(successful and pass the test) = 0.6 + 0.85 - (0.6*0.85) = 0.94 (94%)

Write the equation of the line that passes through the points (7, —4) and (—1 , 3) , first in point -slope form , and then slope
ipn [44]

Answer:

The slope of the line is -7/8

The point slope-form is y+4=(-7/8)(x-7)

The slope-intercept form is y=(-7/8)x+(17/8)

Step-by-step explanation:

You have to find the slope first using m=y2-y1 divided by x2-x1. After you found the slope of the line, you use one of the points to plug it into the point-slope form which is y-y1=m(x-x1). After you have done that, you would have convert this equation into slope-intercept form which is y=mx + b. In order to convert it, you have to multiply m with x and x1. Then you would have to get rid of y1 by doing the opposite of what y1 is. Finally, you would take the opposite of y1 and add it to the other side of the equation.

Really hope this helps! :)

An open-top rectangular box is being constructed to hold a volume of 150 in3. The base of the box is made from a material costin
Oksanka [162]

Answer:

minimum cost of construction box are x = x = 3.4199 in and y = 10.2598 in and z = 4.2750 in

Step-by-step explanation:

given data

volume = 150 in³

base material costing = 5 cents/in²

front cost = 10 cents/in²

remainder sides cost = 2 cents/in²

to find out

the dimensions that will minimize the cost

solution

we consider here length = x and breadth = y and height = z

and

area of base = xy

area of front = xz

and area of remaining side = xz + 2yz     .....................1

so

cost of base will be = 5xy

cost of front = 10xz

cost of remaining side = 2 ( xz+ 2yz)

and

total cost will be

total cost TC = 5xy + 10xz + 2 ( xz+ 2yz)

total cost TC = 5xy + 10xz + 2xz+ 4yz

total cost TC = 5xy + 12xz + 4yz                  ....................2

and total volume will be = xyz

150 = xyz

z = \frac{150}{xy}                  .......................3

now put z value in equation 2

total cost TC = 5xy + 12xz + 4yz

total cost TC = 5xy + 12x\frac{150}{xy} + 4y\frac{150}{xy}

total cost TC = 5xy + \frac{1800}{y} + \frac{600}{x}     ...........4

now differentiate TC w.r.t x and y

TC (x) = 5y - \frac{600}{x^2}

TC (x) = 5x - \frac{1800}{y^2}

now equating with 0 these

5y - \frac{600}{x^2} = 0

x² = \frac{120}{y}

and

5x - \frac{1800}{y^2} = 0

x = \frac{360}{y^2}

solve we get

y = 10.2598

x = 3.4199

now put x and y value in equation 3

z = \frac{150}{xy}

z = \frac{150}{3.4199*10.2598}

z = 4.2750

so minimum cost of construction box are x = x = 3.4199 in and y = 10.2598 in and z = 4.2750 in

A contractor has submitted bids on three state jobs: an office building, a theater, and a parking garage. State rules do not all
german

Answer:

The following are the answer to this question:

Step-by-step explanation:

In the given question the numeric value is missing which is defined in the attached file please fine it.

Calculating the probability of the distribution for x:

\to f(x) = 0.19\  for \ x=14\\\\\to  f(x) = 0.29 \ for\ x=7\\\\\to f(x) = 0.38\  for \ x=1\\\\\to f(x)=0.14 \ for \ x=0\\

The formula for calculating the mean value:

\bold{ E(X)= x \times f(x)}

          =14 \times 0.19+7 \times 0.29+1 \times 0.38+0\times 0.14\\\\=2.66 + 2.03+0.38+ 0\\\\=5.07

\bold{E(X^2) = x^2 \times f(x)}

           =14^2 \times 0.19+7^2 \times 0.29+1^2 \times 0.38+0^2 \times 0.14 \\\\=196 \times 0.19+ 49 \times 0.29+1 \times 0.38+0 \times 0.14\\\\= 37.24+ 14.21+ 0.38+0 \\\\=51.83

use formula for calculating the Variance:

\to \bold{\text{Variance}= E(X^2) -[E(X)]^2}

                  = 51.83 - (5.07)^2\\\\= 51.83 -  25.70\\\\=26.13

calculating the value of standard deivation:

Standard Deivation (SD) = \sqrt{Variance}

                                          = \sqrt{26.13} \\\\=5.111
