Answer:

Science fiction and Science

Science fiction and real science are strongly connected, and what is more, they help one another.

On many occasions, science fiction predicted the future of technology developments ahead of real science. An example of this is Issac Asimov and his Robot Series, where he describes robots and their basic rules. In many of what he says in those books, later on, scientists could create and use it as Assimove had described. Another example is Jules Verne and how he predicted the creation of the submarine or the space rocket.

We can see how scientists take inspiration from the creativity of authors and combine it with their knowledge to improve society every day.

The scientific community is not the only one who benefits from Science fiction. Authors or film directors also benefit from science. They use inventions as an inspiration, or to create better scenes in a film, or to write with them, like with the creation of the computer.

In conclusion, Science fiction and real-life science are deeply connected. They are mutual friends that help one another to improve every day and make the world a better place collaborating from their expertise.

Explanation:

In this case, we wrote an argumentative essay where we introduce our statement in the first paragraph. Then, we proceed to explain it and provide evidence to prove the connection between science and science fiction. Finally, we conclude with a brief explanation of where we restate our theory and write the closing sentence to close our essay adequately.

Answer:

a. went

b. for

d. going

e. when

f. to

g. faced

h. of

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi went to England for higher studies at the age of 19. His mother was apprehensive about young men going astray in western society. But her fears were allayed when Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi swore not to touch meat, wine and women. He faced a lot of difficulties due to his vegetarianism.

Explanation:

In this excerpt, we should use the Past Simple, as the whole story refers to the past. Therefore, we should use verbs like went, was, faced, etc...

The construction go for something means try to achieve a goal, in this case, he tried to finish his higher studies.

e.g. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi went to England for higher studies at the age of 19.

The construction to be afraid/worried/apprehensive about + V+ -ing contains the verb with -ing at the end, as a part of this construction, so, in this case, we should change the verb form from go to going.

e.g. . His mother was apprehensive about young men going astray in western society.

But her fears were allayed when Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi swore not to touch meat, wine and women.

In this sentence, we should use when instead of that, because when acts as a conjunction meaning at the time that.

We use the construction not to when we want to emphasize the absence of some action; in this case, that he will not touch meat, wine and women.

The construction a lot of refers to a large number or amount of things (in this case difficulties).

He faced a lot of difficulties due to his vegetarianism.
