As 100 students entered the auditorium they were each given a prize. If every 6th student received a pencil and
Mice21 [21]

Answer:

5 students got both a pencil and a notebook

Step-by-step explanation:

What I did was to know which multiplication table I knew better and not do that one. So, I already have 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, 81, 90, 99

Then I matched it with the 6's.

6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54, 60, 66, 72, 78, 84, 90, 96, 102

(This may not be the official method but I found this method the easiest)

So therefore your answer would be 5 students.

Find the positive value of k such that the area of the region enclosed between the graph y=kcosx and the graph y=kx^2 is 2
Ilya [14]
Both these graphs will pass through the origin so you need to work out the difference in areas by integrating

INtegral k cos x (between the limits 0 and a) - Intgral kx^2 ( between 0 and a) = 2
Find k
(where a is the value of x on positive side of the graph where the 2 curves intersect)

Mixing two kinds of candy the price of which was $2 and $4 per pound, Ella got a 10-lb mix of candy, which cost $2.90 per pound.
topjm [15]
1. You have the following information given in the problem above:

- Ella mixed two kinds of candy the price of which was $2 and $4 per pound.
- Ella got a 10-lb mix of candy, which cost $2.90 per pound.

2. Therefore, let's call:

x: pounds of the first kind of candy.
y: pounds of the second kind of candy.

3. Then, you have:

2x+4(10-x)=(2.90)(10)

4. When you clear x, you obtain:

2x+40-4x=29
-2x=29-40
x=-11/-2
x=5.5 pounds

x+y=10
y=10-x
y=10-5.5
y=4.5 pounds

9. A quality-control specialist for an electronics manufacturer estimates that 0.25% of the televisions produced each day by her
aleksandr82 [10.1K]

Answer:

33.75

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that the manufacturer produces an average of 450 televisions each day and 0.25% of the numbers produced each day are defective.

Therefore

0.25% of 450 will give the number of defective televisions produced per day

So

0.25% /100 x 450

0.0025 x 450

1.125

This means that 1.125 of televisions produced each day are defective.

Now to get the estimate of defective televisions in 30 days , multiply the number of defective televisions per day by 30 days seeing that the producer produces an average of 450 each day

So

1.125 x 30

33.75

33.75 televisions are defective in 30 days

What is the difference between discrete vs continuous data
Sergeeva-Olga [200]
With continuous data, it is possible to find the midpoint of any two distinct values. For instance, if h = height of tree, then its possible to find the middle height of h = 10 and h = 7 (which in this case is h = 8.5)

On the other hand, discrete data can't be treated the same way (eg: if n = number of people, then there is no midpoint between n = 3 and n = 4).

-------------------------------------

With that in mind, we have the following answers

1) Continuous data. Time values are always continuous. Any two distinct time values can be averaged to find the midpoint

2) Continuous data. Like time values, temperatures can be averaged as well.

3) Discrete data. Place locations in a race or competition are finite and we can't have midpoints. We can't have a midpoint between 9th and 10th place for instance.

4) Continuous data. We can find the midpoint and it makes sense to do so when it comes to speeds.

5) Discrete data. This is a finite number and countable. We cannot have 20.5 freshman for instance.
