Read the excerpt from "Ellis Island." Sometimes people's surnames were changed. Bietzy to Peachey. Hecht to Heck. Many Americans

can point to the fact that their family names are different from their original spelling in the "old country." It is commonly thought that the clerks at Ellis Island misunderstood the names or decided to simplify them. Which is the best paraphrase of the text?

Which of the following describe a “working thesis statement”? i. a changeable focus for your research ii. a statement that makes
LekaFEV [45]
Hey MatloccerSha,

I would have to say that the answer is answer choice 2, because 1 and 3 simply don't cut it when defining a thesis statement. For the first choice, a thesis statement and research for it should be most often focused on one topic. For the third choice, a thesis is used all throughout the process of creating of an essay. A proper thesis statement should do a good job of summarizing what your essay is about. Hope this helped.

Choose to read either "The Man in the Arena" or "Address at Rice University on the Nation's Space Effort." Then, type the title
AlladinOne [14]

Answer:

The chosen speech was "Address at Rice University on the Nation's Space Effort."

Explanation:

The chosen speech was "Address at Rice University on the Nation's Space Effort," due to the historical and technological importance that this speech has for the country.

In this speech, President John F. Kennedy reinforces the importance of Americans in supporting the United States' space program program and shows the government's ambition to do an unprecedented and extremely daring act: to make man step on the moon.

We know that this event was extremely important for our history, showing how the human being is capable of great achievements through an intense study. In addition, it showed how scientific advancement in a country depends directly on the support of the population and government investment, that is, the speech shows how the government, citizens and researchers must be united in the same objective, so that the country can achieve objectives increasingly daring.

select the noun clause in each sentence. Whatever you do make sure you're home on time. Janice couldn't decide what she should m
Bond [772]

Answer: The noun clause in the first sentence is "Whatever you do", while the noun clause in the second sentence is "what she should major in at college".

Explanation: A noun clause is a dependent clause, that is to say a clause that does not express a full thought, which functions as a noun. Moreover, a noun clause is generally introduced by a relative pronoun. In the first sentence<u>, the noun clause is "Whatever you do" and it is functioning as the subject of the sentence, while in the second sentence, the noun clause is "what she should major in at college" and it is performing the function of direct object. </u>Therefore, both of them are acting as nouns.

According to Freud, which part of the unconscious mind is responsible for giving food to needy people?(Id,Ego,Superego). Please
Archy [21]

According to Freud, the superego is the part of the unconscious mind that is responsible for giving food to the needy people.

Explanation:

According to the theory of Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, there are three parts of the human psyche:

  • The id. The id is the impulsive unconscious part of our psyche, which is the source of our basic urges, needs, impulses, and desires. The id is the only part of the personality that a newborn child has, while the ego and superego develop later on. The id remains infantile during our entire lives and is not affected by logic or the world surrounding us.
  • The ego. The purpose of the ego is to create a balance between the id and the real world. It is the decision-making part of our mind. It seeks to satisfy id's needs in a realistic way we can benefit from. We can refer to the ego as our reason and common sense.
  • The superego. The superego is a moral component of our psyche, the function of which is to control the id's impulses, especially those which society forbids. It controls our sense of right and wrong and can be considered to be a type of conscience that punishes misbehavior with the feeling of guilt.

Based on this information, we can conclude that the superego is the part of the unconscious mind that is responsible for giving food to the needy. Giving food to the needy people is morally right, something that can be expected from us and praised by society.
