The correct answer is B. Replace the comma after persists with a colon.

Explanation

A colon (:) is a punctuation mark represented by one period above another. Its main function is to stop the speech to draw the reader's attention to what is next in the text. Its most common uses are in the explanatory enumeration and the introduction of quotes or verbatim words.

According to the above, it can be inferred that the correct answer is B because in the sentence "According to Stonehill, a primitive standard of attractiveness persists, "Some researchers have ..." " the author is adding a quote and it would be appropriate to replace the comma after persists with a colon.

What is the most likely reason Churchill regularly brings up negative details about the war, such as the German victory in the B
Pie

I think the most likely reason Churchill regularly brougth up negative details about the war is:

A. He wants Britain to have realistic expectations about the future.

As a great strategist, Churchill focused on the evidence given by other battles, like the German victory in France, to learn from his enemy. By lying to his people, british army would not be prepared for the battles coming and wold be defeated. Some generals in World War II believed that war would be fougth like World War I, they were not based on any evidence, and were eventually surprised by the new tactics the German developed (like the Blitzkrieg).

Churchill was able to make alliances with the United States and the URSS, so letter B. seems incorrect.

History made clear that Churchill was a great leader that never gave up so letter C. seems incorrect too.

By giving negative details abaout war Germany wouldn't think Britain is weak so letter D is incorrect.

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is said to be a novel of its time, meaning that it reflects the values and issues of
Lilit [14]
This statement is correct because the novel accurately and vividly depicts the gap between Victorian moral ideals and their absolute subversion and degradation. When deformed and hideous Mr. Hyde knocks down a little girl in the passage, it is almost a metaphor for his knocking down everything that is sacred and valued within his society - and the girl herself is a symbol of innocence. A couple of months later, he beats a man to death, displaying his urge for violence. But the most disturbing fact is that he is the same person as Dr. Jekyll, a well respected and decent man of high standing in his society, who can't bear to give up on his evil alter-ego. It depicts the fact that the more the society tries to restrain our dark urges, the stronger and more irresistible they become.
