One fraudulent strategy that speculators engaged in to meet the requirements of the Homestead Act are "They built tiny dwellings measured in inches rather than feet."

 • This is because the Homestead Act demands that for a landowner to own the game completely, he must develop and be better than it was.
 • Thus, the speculators of lands at the time, try to meet the requirement fraudulently by building smaller dwellings measured in inches rather than feet.

Hence, in this case, the correct answer is option D "They built tiny dwellings measured in inches rather than feet."

Damm [24]

The answer is B. A Campaign Waged In Chile By Jose de San Martin

Gen. José de San Martín, an Argentinian statesman and national hero who helped free some countries from the Spanish rule in the early 1800s.

San Martín intended to ensure Argentina’s independence by destroying the remaining Spanish power in South America, to reach his purpose he helped achieve Peru's independence as well.

After his army had been defeated in Upper Peru (now Bolivia), San Martín determined to surround the Spaniards by liberating Chile and using it as a base for a seaborne attack on Peru. The campaign waged in Chile was successful, gaining Chile's independence in 1818, which allow the Argentinian leader to occupy the Peruvian port of Pisco in September 1820. When the Spanish government withdrew his forces into the interior of Peru, San Martín entered Lima and after several battles, the country's independence was declared on July 28, 1821.

However, after that, several battles had to be fought to ensure independence. In those battles, Simón Bolívar, another South American hero, was a key element that helped free the country completely.
