Which excerpt best exemplifies the gothic literary style? He approached the temple. As he went forward the light retired, and, w

hen he put his feet within the apartment, utterly vanished. The suddenness of this transition increased the darkness that succeeded in a tenfold degree. Fear and wonder rendered him powerless. An occurrence like this, in a place assigned to devotion, was adapted to intimidate the stoutest heart. (from Wieland by Charles Brockden Brown) In good health, the air is a cordial of incredible virtue. Crossing a bare common, in snow puddles, at twilight, under a clouded sky, without having in my thoughts any occurrence of special good fortune, I have enjoyed a perfect exhilaration. I am glad to the brink of fear. In the woods too, a man casts off his years, as the snake his slough, and at what period so ever of life, is always a child. In the woods, is perpetual youth. (from "Nature" by Ralph Waldo Emerson) Lives of great men all remind us We can make our lives sublime, And, departing, leave behind us Footprints on the sands of time; (from "A Psalm of Life" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow) Darsie was the second daughter in a family of six, and by reason of her upsetting nature had won for herself that privilege of priority which by all approved traditions should have belonged to Clemence, the elder sister. B the excerpt from Nature by Ralph Waldo Emerson.
This example exemplifies the gothic literary style because of the word choice and imagery Emerson depicts in the excerpt.
Hope this helps!

Consider how cultural diversity defines American society and literature. Is the American identity static or fluid over time? How
noname [10]

Answer:

The American society is composed of an ethnical mix, with members of many nations which blend into one unique American identity, while keeping their authenticity. This authenticity can be seen clearly in the cultural diversity. Just like any other identity, American is fluid over time. It changes and alters, in accordance with societal changes. Identities are not carved in stone. While we have every right to actively participate in the process of fashioning our identities, they still have a relative autonomy, and change over time. For example, if I am an Italian immigrant who lives in the U.S., I still have every right to claim my Italian cultural inheritance, but it doesn't make me less of an American. By living in America, I am adopting new cultural traits. My children will have their own perception of their cultural identity that doesn't have to be the same as mine.

Write a story starting with: "Sally threw <br> her bike and ran towards the house ":
rewona [7]
Sally threw her bike and ran towards the house. Her salty tears stained her cheeks as she was sobbing. She just managed to get away from the monsters, the people that tore her to the ground and punched her everyday. All she wanted was to go to the store to buy some groceries because her mom died when she was only 6 and her dad is a drunk mess. Her dad didn’t know about the bullies, Ericka and Everlyn, but she doubted he even cared. As she sprinted down the street, she heard the mimicking voices behind her.

is this enough? :)

When I first started at Hidaya I hated wearing the hijab. I found it itchy and I absolutely despised wearing it during gym class
klasskru [66]
I would say the answer is D.
This is because of the way she talks about how she is uncomfortable with the hijab in the begging but releases that idea. Instead she goes into a more “I want to be as comfortable as those girls” idea and the story/excerpt tends to follow that idea until the end of it. Also the central ideas seem to be revealed at ends of stories for example she even states, “I was even a bit jealous” and “They looked so at peace with their identity and everybody got to know and respect them of their own terms.” Which implies she wants to have that sense of comfort in herself that she doesn’t have unlike the other girls.
Hope this helped!! :)
