Lise Marie J. de Baissac came from a French family. She was born in Mauritius and had British nationality. She was the superstar of the Special Operations Team at the time of WW-II. She was a dignified agent who, multiple times, risked her life in order to work in national spy operations. After the war seized, she was received numbers of gallantry prizes.

However, the reason after every option for its acceptance or nonacceptance as the answer is mentioned beneath each point. Anyhow, the correct answer is darkened.

A. "When she ... lived there."

This line only defines a specific detail about how the special agent survived through a fake name as a spy. No theme is described through this sentence.

B. "Baissac’s goal ... resistance groups."

This statement the agent’s motive and the way she enacted the task provided. Still, the complete idea is not expressed within the line.

C. "Baissac did ... her tasks."

The writer is praising the efforts of Baissac in this sentence. He again writes how much hard work the agent did in order to achieve the national goals.

D. "As a ... German troops."

This is the statement that definitely defines the central idea of the excerpt. When we break this line into sections, we can see that it illustrates that she performed multiple essential tasks when appointed in Normandy. The phrase “sometimes dangerous tasks” describes the critical nature of the job she handled in there. And, also the opposition (German troops) is clearly mentioned in this sentence which helps to convey the idea very clearly.

These rights are often referred to as Miranda rights. The purpose of such notification is to preserve the admissibility of their statements made during custodial interrogation in later criminal proceedings. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.

n the United States, the right to remain silent is designed to protect a person who is undergoing police questioning or trial. This right may help a person avoid making self-incriminating statements. This I believe would be the fifth amendment.

The Fifth Amendment privilege against compulsory self-incrimination applies when an individual is called to testify in a legal proceeding.

The Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution provides, "No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger

In criminal cases, the Fifth Amendment guarantees the right to a grand jury, forbids “double jeopardy,” and protects against self-incrimination.

Cathy just bought a hang glider which of these could have been an internal factor that influenced Cathy's decision
lutik1710 [3]

Cathy just bought a hang glider. Which of these could have been an internal factor that influenced Cathy's decision?

A. Cathy just loves the way hang gliders float through the air.

B. Everyone else who lives on Cathy's block has a hang glider.

C. Cathy recently read an article in a magazine about hang gliders.

D. Cathy just saw a movie in which the star flew with a hang glider

Internal factors are things such as needs, motives, and perceptions, while external factors include things such as family, friends, or social media. Options B, C, and D are external factors because the decision to buy would be based on the people on her block, a magazine article, or a movie. Only option A is based on Cathy's own perception.

Read this excerpt from Alan Weisman's "The City Without Us":
miss Akunina [59]

Answer:

The claim that the excerpt most clearly supports seems to be:

D. Without humanity's presence, New York City would quickly deteriorate.

Explanation:

This excerpt taken from Alan Weisman's "The City Without Us" discusses how the human presence keep New York from becoming a disastrous chaos. As the author explains, without power and people to pump the water out, the subway systems of New York would be completely flooded. If it rains, it would only take some hours for it to be underwater; if it doesn't, just a couple of days. The author is showing readers that the city only functions because of the people who work to ensure it. If humans were to disappear, it wouldn't be long before the world became wild and nature claimed everything man has ever built.
