Nathan had an infection, and his doctor wanted him to take penicillin. Because Nathan’s father and paternal grandfather were all

ergic to penicillin, Nathan had a 75% chance of having the same allergy. The doctor performed a skin test to see whether Nathan would react to it. The test is 98% accurate. What is the probability that Nathan is allergic to penicillin and the test predicts it?

Answer:

0.735

Step-by-step explanation:

Let A be the event of being allergic to penicillin and T be the event that the test predicted the allergy is accurate.

According to the question,

There is 75% chance of having the allergy.

⇒ Probability of being allergic to penicillin, P(A) = 75 % = 0.75,

Also, the test is 98% accurate.

⇒ Probability that the allergy is predicted by the test, P(B) = 98% = 0.98

Since, both A and T are independent events,

Thus, the probability that Nathan is allergic to penicillin and the test predicts it

=  P(A) × P(T)

= 0.75 × 0.98

= 0.735

There is a 73.5% chance that Nathan is allergic to penicillin and the test predicts it.

75% * 98% = 73.5%

.75 * .98 = .735

A log splitter uses a pump with hydraulic oil to push a piston, attached to which is a chisel. The pump can generate a pressure
faust18 [17]

we are given

The pump can generate a pressure of 2.3x107 pa

so,

p=2.3*10^7

a radius of 0.041 m

so,

r=0.041m

a stroke lasting 29 s, the piston moves 0.57 m

so,

h=0.57m

t=29s

Firstly, we will find area

A=\pi r^2

A=\pi (0.041)^2

A=0.00528

now, we can use power formula

P=\frac{W}{t}

F=pA

W=Fh

so, W=pAh

we can plug it

P=\frac{p*A*h}{t}

now, we can plug values

P=\frac{2.3*10^7*0.00528*0.57}{29}

now, we can simplify it

Power=2386.92414 watt.........Answer

Alexeev081 [22]

Answer:

Well, I don't think I can remember EVERY skill I was taught through the years but in Kindergarten we used Number Sense so we could accurately... also there's estimation and of course PEMDAS. I've also learned how to round up so that the solution is at least around those numbers if the skill is to be applied.

Step-by-step explanation:

I'm not sure if this'll help but go ahead and have it... just try and change it a bit so they don't get ya for plagirism

On a coordinate plane, a solid straight line has a positive slope and goes through (0, negative 1) and (3, 0). Everything above
Charra [1.4K]

Answer:

y\geq\frac{1}{3}x-1

Step-by-step explanation:

A solid straight line has a positive slope and goes through (0, negative 1) and (3, 0)

<em>Find the slope of the solid line</em>

m=(0+1)/(3-0)\\\\m=\frac{1}{3}

The equation of the solid line in slope intercept form is equal to

y=mx+b

we have

m=\frac{1}{3}

b=-1 ---> given problem

substitute

y=\frac{1}{3}x-1

Everything above and to the left of the line is shaded

so the inequality is equal to

y\geq\frac{1}{3}x-1

After constructing a confidence interval estimate for a population mean, you believe that the interval is useless because it is
choli [55]

Answer:

a. increase the sample size

Step-by-step explanation:

The width of a confidence interval is twice the margin of error, which is given by:

M = z*\frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}

In which \sigma is the standrd deviation of the population, n is the size of the sample, and z is the confidence coefficient(the higher the confidence level, the higher z is).

The only of those variables which is direct proportional to M is the sample size. This means that if we want to decrease the width of M, we need to increase the sample size.

So the correct answer is:

a. increase the sample size
