How does knowing the story of Pandora enrich the viewer's experience and understanding of this painting? Knowing the backstory a

llows the viewer to relax and enjoy the painting for itself. It doesn't add anything to your understanding of the painting. It helps the viewer appreciate the painter's technique more. If you know the story, you realize that what she is about to release are all the evils of the world.

Archy [21]

Tan builds a central idea of her story in the excerpt as:

Tan discusses her mother’s use of English to build the idea that a form of language can be purposeful and meaningful even if it is nonstandard.

Amy Tan's essay “Mother Tongue” is about the difficulties that a child has to face if it grows in a family in which its parents speak 'limited English.' Amy's mother was among such parent who was unable to speak fluent and proper English. It is through the language that the person is judged by others. Amy was brought up by her mother and because of this, her writing style was much influenced by the language spoken at her home. Her mother taught her that a person's perception of the world is influenced by the language spoken at home.

Correctly punctuate the following text. Add three colons and two semicolons. Thought for the Day; There's one thing that grinds
vlada-n [284]

<u>Answer:</u>

Thought for the day; there's one thing that grinds my gears more than anything else: rudeness. Whenever I see someone dropping a sweet wrapper on the floor, I want to perform a citizen's arrest for littering; whenever a driver cuts me up, I want an officer on hand to haul them off in cuffs; and whenever I receive an email without a proper greeting or sign off, I want to be able to zap the sender with so much spam that their inbox will melt! You might think me harsh, but to misquote Shakespeare: 'to be cruel is to be kind.' Indeed, the punishment must fit the crime; that's the only way we'll be able to change these people's habits. So whenever you're about to scoff your snacks, pull out into traffic or click send; pause for a moment and remember the age old maxim: manners maketh man.

<u>Explanation:</u>

A colon is used in the places between the independent clauses where the second word or sentence is describing the first sentence. For example:

<u>there's one thing that grinds my gears more than anything else</u><u>:</u><u> rudeness.</u>

While the places where two independent clauses are closely linked, a semicolon is used. For example:

<u>Indeed, the punishment must fit the crime"</u><u>;</u><u>" that's the only way we'll be able to change these people's habits.</u>

PLZ HELP MEEE
Colt1911 [192]

Answer:

  1. hard worker and tough boss
  2. she does not change
  3. trapped and frustrated

Explanation:

  1. Mr. Zanetti had tough hands that were tougher than any hands Alfred had ever seen. This is an indication that Mr. Zanetti has done a lot of physical labor and has calloused hands from all the work he has done, likely with heavy things or out in the elements. The suspicious tone that Mr. Zanetti uses when asking if Alfred is really looking for work shows that Mr. Zanetti is most likely a strict boss who demands great effort and results from his employees.
  2. Maggie would be a static character here since static characters are defined as being characters who do not undergo changes in a story. Static characters are considered as such because their personality and actions tend to stay the same as the plot of the story progress. This feature does not prevent them from influencing or changing other characters, but it does mean that they end the story without having suffered any real transformation or transition.
  3. The bird is extremely frustrated because he is trapped in a crate. While Maggie is trying to comfort him, it is not much use because of the incredible shame he feels due to being stuck in a cage. The inability to soar high in the sky produces an almost overwhelming sadness. This is is accentuated by the fact that he can feel his wings close to him but cannot use them to make himself feel better.
