Answer:

Frida Kahlo's passion for painting was so deep that it was the only thing that gave her joy.

Explanation:

An opinion is founded on subjective perception and understanding of a given phenomenon. It is different from a fact inasmuch as the latter is founded on a state of affairs that can be corroborated or checked either through observation or analysis. In the answer selected above, the speaker claims that painting was the only thing that gave Frida joy —joy, and passion, being both subjective states that can only be stated through opinion or a judgment of taste, it cannot be considered a matter of fact.

Why did Churchill replace Chamberlain as Britain's new prime minister shortly after World War II began?
Natasha2012 [34]

There should have been options to choose from for this question. I found the options elsewhere and the correct answer would be because Churchill had a better understanding of the situation with Hitler than Chamberlain did.

Churchill knew that diplomacy would not work with Hitler and the only way to reach a resolution was through military force and tactics.

Write a minimum 150-word response in which you explain the poet's use of extended metaphor in "Cloud." Be sure to cite examples
Allisa [31]

The poem "The Cloud" by Percy Bysshe Shelley employs an extended metaphor, as it compares a cloud to life throughout the whole poem.

The cloud is meant to stand for the cycle of nature, or the unending cycle of life. Through the many cycles and transformations that the cloud endures, Shelley wants to represent the never ending cycle of birth, death and rebirth that all beings on Earth go through. The poem, therefore, focuses on the mutability of nature as the only constant in the physical world. Moreover, this allows the author to also employ the cloud as a symbol of the many changes that humans undergo throughout their lives.

Reread lines 1-7. Compare the effect of the author’s word choice in the description of the bubbles and then in the description o
Anton [14]

Answer:

From the opening sentence, we understand that there are thirteen bubbles that floated in the milk.

The author described the bubbles as "transparent hemispheres gleamed like souvenirs of the summer days just past, rich with blue reflections of the sky and of shadowy greens".

The effect of the author's choice of words was that of imagery as it helped the readers to "see" the bubbles in their mind's eye with such clarity as it was so succinctly described.

The author further described John's actions as he used the spoon to scoop the milk and swallow it in such a way that suggested he was either very hungry or in a hurry.

"John Hawkins jabbed the bubble closest to him with his spoon,. . .there was no mark of where it had been"

This description had the effect of making the readers know how eager John was to consume the milk and how quickly the ripples vanished.

The readers can also infer that John consumed the milk in an aggressive manner because of the way he jabbed at the ripple closest to him in his effort to drink the milk.
