Use context clues to choose the sentence that best uses the fourth definition of the word crude. Rather than being subtle, Selma

was rather crude in the way she conducted herself at the meeting. Elijah and his brother quickly built a crude shelter that would keep them warm and dry through the night. Thelma’s knowledge of art and poetry showed the rest of the diners that she was far from crude. There was oil to be found on the property, but it was crude and would need to be processed.

C) to discuss the infallibility of memory to recall facts correctly from the past

The narrator in this is talking about an important memory from his childhood, but he is nervous when he thinks about how the memory might be 'marred' or changed from the innocence of youth. He remembers the place but hopes that it has remained as pure as he felt it was from his childhood.

Select the correct answer from each drop-down menu. is a complete analysis and telling of the life story of a person who is not
Viktor [21]

This is missing a few details. I've found the complete question online. It is as follows:

1. _______ is a complete analysis and telling of the life story of a person who is not the author.

A. An autobiography

B. A memoir

C. A biography

2. A memoir is a compilation of ________ about moments or events in the life of the author.

A. fabrications

B. memories

C. facts

3. However, the information provided in both the works is supposed to be ________.

A. fictitious

B. factual

C. complex

Answer:

1. C. A biography is a complete analysis and telling of the life story of a person who is not the author.

2. A memoir is a compilation of B. memories about moments or events in the life of the author.

However, the information provided in both the works is supposed to be B. factual.

Explanation:

A biography tells the real story (the facts) about someone's life in chronological sequence. However, the author of the biography is not the person who the biography is about. For instance, if I write a complete analysis of my mother's life, I will be writing a biography. On the other hand, if she does it, it will be an autobiography.

Unlike biographies, a memoir tells someone's life facts in a more colorful way, approaching the writer's emotions and understanding of events.

Still, both the biography and the memoir have to provide factual information. The author cannot fill in the gaps between the person's life events with something he/she imagines that could have happened. That would be fiction. Biographies and memoirs are supposed to recount facts.

Kay [80]

Read the excerpt from The Common Sense of Bicycling: Bicycling for Ladies.

By straightening the knees and using the ankle movement freely, the rise of the knees may be lessened several inches. When the pedal is at the highest point, the toe should be raised and the heel lowered. . . . although the right pedal is at the highest point, the knee has made very little impression on the front skirt. The feet should be in line with the machine, turning neither in nor out. The knees must be kept pretty close to the machine and should not move laterally at any part of the circle. The arms should have a slight drop at the elbows. The handles should be about level with the saddle, but this will depend on relative length of arms and waist.

According to the excerpt, which should be included in a list of the procedures for riding a bicycle? Check all that apply.

moving the ankles freely

bending and straightening the knees
