Elizabeth has a dialogue with Proctor and he says: “You’ll speak nothing of Elizabeth!” And Elizabeth answers: “She is blackening my name in the Village! She is telling lies about me! She is a cold, sniveling woman and you bend to her!” Proctor has problems with his wife Elizabeth. Abigail and Proctor have an affair, and in the excerpt, Abigail is mad because Proctor does not confront Elizabeth.
