I believe the answer is: the earliest English lyric poems were historical ballads that court writers composed to honor heroes.

In the past, Bard and poets were hired by the Kingdoms to write songs and poets to accompany the celebration that made by the kingdom for the Heroes that just return from the war. In the past, most of the lyric consist of historical achievement from famous people rather than emotional statement.

In 1840, the transcendentalist periodical The Dial was founded, and in that same year it published "Orphic Sayings" by Amos Bronson Alcott.

Furthermore, "Orphic Sayings" was one of Alcott's contribution to The Dial. Alcott's work got favorable reviews and was considered highly valuable for its philosophy. Katena32 [7]
So, basically "Meta"="after" physical is well.. physical
so metaphysical is "after the physical". basically, metaphysics deal with questions that can't be explained...by science anyway. It questions the nature of reality in a philosophical way.

some common questions are: does God exists? Is there a difference between the way things appear to us and the way they really are?
is consciousness limited to the brain?
so hat type of poetry sounds like it would be very abstract, and if all of these poet friends did write poems like that then I believe the answer more than likely is
C.) the poet's fondness for abstract ideas.
