Answer: C. because a memoir relies largely on the writer's memories.

A memoir, by definition, describes the memories of a particular person. Therefore, the information that is presented describes historical events from a single perspective. Moreover, many of the claims that are made in memoirs are not researched or supported by reliable evidence. Therefore, historians do not consider memories to be historical documents.

B. A memoir is known to be only experiences that's based on its writer in terms of what they can remember during that time. Therefore, you cannot say that this is not totally related to past events in history, but rather past experiences that a person that might be in history has remembered.

mojhsa [17]

Answer:

This excerpt proves that Odysseus causes his crew's demise:

D. by revealing his ignorant assumptions.

Explanation:

The excerpt we are analyzing here belongs to the epic poem The Odyssey. The hero of the story, Odysseus, is talking to a Cyclops, but his ignorant assumptions about the Cyclops's kind leads to his crew's demise. Odysseus assumes the Cyclopes, just like humans, fear and respect the gods. That's why he appeals to that notion when he says, "Zeus will avenge the unoffending guest." However, to his sad surprise, the Cyclops is immediately angered by those words, revealing he could not care less about the gods. The Cyclopes are clearly an arrogant kind, believing they "have more force by far." Since Odysseus did not know that, his words cause a tragedy.

Read the passage from "How Should One Read a Book?”

Yet few people ask from books what books can give us. Most commonly we come to books with blurred and divided minds, asking of fiction that it shall be true, of poetry that it shall be false, of biography that it shall be flattering, of history that it shall enforce our own prejudices. If we could banish all such preconceptions when we read, that would be an admirable beginning.

The reader can conclude that the passage comes from a(n)

biography.

essay.

myth.

play.

Answer:

Essay

Explanation:

According to the passage from "How Should One Read a Book?”, the author talks about banishing preconceived notions about books and authors from readers before reading. She states that most people read books with a blurred mind and divided minds to enforce their own prejudices.

Therefore, the reader can conclude that the passage comes from an essay.

This is because, an essay is a literary writing that outlines the perspective of the writer about a certain topic, and from the passage, the author talks about his perspective on the prejudices of readers.
