These are from "young"

The first line states: "A Thousand doors ago" This is hyperbole. It shows that she thinks of this time a long long time ago.

Anne says: "the wise stars bedding over me" This is personification because stars cant actually be wise. I think Anne is trying to say that laying under the stars helps her think and is relaxing.

Another hyperbole is: "and probably a million leaves", there wasn't actually a million leaves but it felt like it to Anne.

Another personification is: "yellow heat running out" This is just to bring the poem alive.

There is also a simile: "and the boards of the house were smooth and white as wax" I think this is just to help you picture the poem's words.

Answer: Time progresses chronologically with one flashback and a return to the original time.

Explanation:

In the first part, Zeitoun is thinking of the canoe (present time), this leads to a memory of the time the canoe was stolen from the Claiborne house, he and Kathy noticed it when he was released from prison (flashback), then he thinks on how all the stolen things were replaced except for the canoe and he misses it (return to the present), finally he keeps thinking about if he should get a new canoe and if his family would like it (still present).
