<span>Answer: Parabiosis is an effective way to evaluate hormone function because it permits the exchange of only long-lived molecules (such as hormones) between the two joined individuals. Thus, the glucose levels of each mouse will stay the same, but the hormone levels will not. The db mutant's hormone level will decrease, and the wild type's hormone level will increase. Coleman's goal was to determine if the ob and db genes function in the hormonal regulation of appetite and body fat. In this experiment, if both appetite-suppressing hormone and glucose were exchanged, it would be impossible to determine whether any weight changes in the mice were caused by the transfer of hormone or the transfer of glucose from one mouse to the other. For example, an increase in hormone level (and thus greater appetite suppression) could lead to weight loss, as could a decrease in glucose level. On the other hand, a decrease in hormone level or an increase in glucose level could lead to weight gain.</span>

Many hormones and metabolites have proven to be not a factor of satiety which caused one rat to starve in the experiment.

<h2>Further Explanation </h2>

Parabiosis is the union of operations of two organisms that allow the distribution of blood circulation. Attaching the skins of two animals encourages the formation of microvascular at the site of inflammation. Parabiotic partners share circulating antigens free of adverse immune reactions.

Parabiosis, which means "life on the side", is a technical term in various contexts in the field of study related to ecology and physiology.

In the current protocol, two mice join the surgery after the modification of the Bunster and Meyer technique. Animals are connected through the elbow and knee joints followed by a skin attachment which allows strong support which prevents tension in the stitched skin.

Parabiosis promotes the formation of microvascular at the site of inflammation and has several applications in physiological studies, such as hormonal communication between the pituitary gland and gonads and the role of the kidneys in hypertension.

At the same time, the new method results in minimal postoperative care and significantly reduces mortality.

Shrimp are primary consumers that feed on photosynthetic organisms. why would these organisms likely be found only in shallow oc
astra-53 [7]
Since shrimp pray on photosynthetic organisms, they are dependant on their prey's location.
The photosynthetic organisms need sunlight in order to produce energy, so they then to live in shallow waters, because the sunlight penetrates only a small upper layer of the water's surface.
So, shrimp live in shallow waters because their pray can only live there.

The nutritional energy content (in Calories) present in 86g of broccoli with 2.6g of protein, 6g of carbohydrates, and 0.3g of f
Nimfa-mama [501]

Answer:

40 Cal

Explanation:

Data provided in the question:

Protein present in the broccoli = 2.6 g

Carbohydrates present in the broccoli = 6 g

Fat present in the broccoli = 0.3 g

Now,

We know,

Energy provided by protein and carbohydrates = 4 Cal / g

and,

Energy provided by Fats = 9 Cal / g

Therefore,

Total nutritional energy content = ∑(Amount × Energy provided)

= ( 2.6  × 4 ) + (6 × 4) + (0.3 × 9)

= 10.4 + 24 + 2.7

= 37.1 Cal

rounding off the answer to nearest 5 ≈ 40 Cal

lapo4ka [179]
<span>The action of Helicase is to create replication forks and replication bubbles. Helicase is the first step in the DNA replication process. Helicase is an enzyme that breaks the hydrogen bond between the parental DNA to free the DNA double helix. The area where it unwinds is called as replication fork.</span>
