In The Deserted Village, Goldsmith has little respect for the sentimental village preacher. FALSE.

The Deserted Village is a poem by Oliver Goldsmith published in 1770. It is a work of social commentary, and condemns rural depopulation and the pursuit of excessive wealth. In the poem, Goldsmith criticises rural depopulation, the moral corruption found in towns, consumerism, enclosure, landscape gardening, avarice, and the pursuit of wealth from international trade

raketka [301]

The lines in the poem that best shape the theme that joy can be found in experiencing the natural world are:  "Beside the Lake, beneath the trees, /Flittering and dancing in the breeze."  "A poet could not but be gay/ In such a jocund company".  The first lines "Beside the Lake..." depict a natural scenery and the lines that follow: "A poet could not but be gay...", express that the company of nature makes a poet very happy and feel in good company.  The theme is expressed clearly in this set of lines.

Do you think the poem wind is a didatic poem? what moral values does it preach?
Lynna [10]

Answer:

I think the poem "Wind" is a didactic poem.

Explanation:

A didactic poem is a poem that has moral lessons.

"Wind" by SUBRAMANIA BHARATI is a didactic poem that talks about the wind which is blowing and makes a request that it doesn't scatter the papers of the book but it does and also brings rain.

"Wind, come softly.

Don’t break the shutters of the windows.

Don’t scatter the papers.

Don’t throw down the books on the shelf.

There, look what you did — you threw them all down.

You tore the pages of the books.

You brought rain again."

In the latter part of the poem, the poet advises that we build strong homes that won't be destroyed by strong winds.

Another moral lesson is that he advises that we make our minds and bodies firm so we can withstand the difficulties of life.

"So, come, let’s build strong homes,

Let’s joint the doors firmly.

Practise to firm the body.

Make the heart steadfast.

Do this, and the wind will be friends with us.

The wind blows out weak fires."

How does description in “Broken Chain” help develop the theme “The way you look does not always reflect who you want to be”? Use
zzz [600]

Answer:

Sample Response:

Explanation:

The description helps readers understand how Alfonso's concern about his appearance is affecting him. The description of his thumbs after pushing on his teeth as "tired and wrinkled and pink" shows how far Alfonso will go to improve his image. The comparison of his bike to "a handful of dimes" shows how careful he is. These descriptions contribute to the theme that the way you look does not always reflect who you want to be.
