According to London, the quintessential force that has driven man to survive and wander, or drift, is food. He states that man has drifted since prehistoric times in search of food:

The history of civilisation is a history of wandering, sword in hand, in search of food… It has always been so, from the time of the first pre-human anthropoid crossing a mountain-divide in quest of better berry-bushes beyond, down to the latest Slovak, arriving on our shores to-day, to go to work in the coal-mines of Pennsylvania. These migratory movements of peoples have been called drifts, and the word is apposite. Unplanned, blind, automatic, spurred on by the pain of hunger, man has literally drifted his way around the planet.”

He states that it is hunger, not romance or adventure, that fuels man’s need to drift.

icang [17]

Answer:

In the story "The griffin and the minor canon" by Frank Stockton, The townspeople are scared of the griffin and terrified that he would hurt their children, They only think of themselves and are cowardly, they sent the minor canon to the griffin. The minor canon was kind, hence the griffin follows the minor canon around.

Explanation:

The towns people then send the minor canon into the wilderness because they believe the griffin will follow him there. the griffin did not know the where about of the minor canon. the griffin then started helping out with the teaching that minor canon did. later the townspeople admitted to griffin that they sent minor canon to the evil forest. This revelation by the townspeople made the griffin furious, then he went and saved the minor canon.

This story teaches that everybody deserves respect, nobody in the town respects minor canon but he work all the time and teaches the bad children. Although the griffin is frightening, but means no harm to the townspeople.

Which steps are part of the process of citing supporting details? Select four options. finding repeated words and phrases determ
just olya [345]

The correct options are "determining the central idea of the text"; "looking for facts and examples"; "considering all the evidence" and " finding repeated words and phrases".

In the process of citing supporting details it is necessary to have the central idea of the text in mind so as to make sure the quotations are connected to the text. Since the purpose of citing is to support ideas, you need to find examples and specific facts, and to evaluate their appropiatness and connection to the text. Some repetition within the text is necessary as well because it helps you establish the connection between the citation and the text, so as to help the reader follow the text easily
