Huck's sense of morality is developing throughout the novel. He isn't always sure as to what's the most moral thing to do, but he constantly thinks about it and turns the issue over and over in his head. And his position isn't light; he doesn't have anyone in his nearest family who would be his role model. So, he basically has to do it all alone. On the other hand, the Duke and the King are two swindlers who are everything that Huck himself could grow up to be if he weren't guided by his inner moral compass. In this way, Huck is both an inverted younger version of them, and their complete opposite. Through them, he is going to learn what he shouldn't aspire to; but also, they teach him (unintentionally, of course) what he could become.

emmasim [6.3K]

In the poem "the love song of J.Alfred Prufrock" T.S Elliot uses an urban setting and expresses in his style an experimental nature. Descriptions like the city is full of "yellow smoke that rubs its muzzle on the window-panes" and  "It lingers on pools of water in the streets and is covered in soot that falls from chimneys. There descriptions make part of the modernism since modernism usually rejects romanticism and therefore the nature as a setting

SIZIF [17.4K]

Answer:

The purpose of these lines is to express love by likening a loved one to a nice day.

Explanation:

Shakespeare's "Sonnet 18" expresses admiration for a young person - many say it is a young man, but the sonnet itself does not make it clear who the speaker is addressing. The speaker compares this "fair youth" to a summer's day, but this person is more temperate, more lovely. While summer can be filled with extremes - sun shining too hot or too dim; rough winds -, the addressed person is more pleasant. While summer does not last long, this person's beauty shall last forever, immortalized in this sonnet, read about by people in years and years to come. The purpose of the sonnet is to express love and admiration for this person; the comparison with the summer's day is a tool that serves that purpose.
