This comes from the novel “<em><u>Things Fall Apart”</u></em> written by <u>Chinua Achebe</u>. In this novel the proud and strong Okonkwo gets punished for not obeying the traditions of his tribe. During the Week of Peace he beat one of his wives  and he got punished for this, because according to tradition there must be peace and harmony during the Week of Peace, or else the Tribe can get into trouble.
