Educators and parents debate the possibility of allowing cell phones in classrooms during school hours. Educators believe that a

llowing phones, especially more advanced models, in class would be too distracting for most students. Many also state that it would be too tempting for students to cheat, especially with increased pressure for higher grades and test scores. However, parents argue that they need to be able to reach their children in emergency situations. In your opinion, should cell phones be banned in classrooms? In your essay, take a position on this question. You may write about either of the two points of view given, or you may present a different point of view on this question. Use specific reasons and examples to support your position.

To approach an essay question like this one, you need to identify the issue (cell phone use in the classroom) and then decide which side you agree with. The next step is to consider the reasons why you agree with that side. Those reasons become the body paragraphs of your paper. For each paragraph, write the reason as a topic sentence. Then explain that point, including specific examples that support your position, before concluding that point and moving on to the next reason in a new paragraph. Make sure you include a proper introductory paragraph that introduces your topic and states your position and a concluding paragraph that summarizes your argument.

Mashutka [201]

Answer:

Your answer would be that the literary device used in the passage is an analogy.

In the passage above, the author has used the literary device called analogy. An analogy is a comparison in which a thing or an idea is compared to another thing which is a little different from it. Its purpose is to explain the original idea by comparing it to something that is familiar. In this case, a relationship is compared to the way the stock market works. The author explains that both of them have ups and downs and that, in both cases, you only get what you put into them.

Which sentence should Gordon revise to make it more
Alexxx [7]

Answer:

Gordon should revise sentence 1 to provide specific details about what "struck" him as he first entered the room.

Explanation:

Gordon gave a personal narrative essay on his dream of becoming a chef, the steps he took towards achieving that such as watching his parents cook while he was a kid and his next course of action to make his dream come through by attending cooking lessons.

While narrating his first day of his cooking lessons, he said he was really struck by what he saw when he first entered the room but provided no further explanation as to what struck him when he entered the room.

Hence Gordon needs to revise that to make it more precise.
