The primary colors of pigment are used to produce colors from reflected light. For example, they are used in mixing paints and in color printers. They include are magenta, yellow, and cyan, also known as red, yellow, and blue.

Whereas, the combination of two of the standard three additive primary colors in equal proportions produces an additive secondary color. They are cyan, magenta and yellow.

The primary pigments an artist needs to mix to obtain a pale yellow-green color are yellow and cyan.
Whereas, red and green are the primary additive colors that a theater-lighting designer needs to mix in order to produce the same color with light.<span>
