LenaWriter [7]

Answer:

Mrs. Peters being married to the sheriff always choose to follow the law. she always apologise for the behavior of the men because they are only doing their duty. Mrs. Peters also understands loneliness and the world of the female domestic. So therefore, her statement rings with sense of sad irony because she knows that the law does not protect women. anecdote

The text "1959: What is Apartheid?" is an essay. It is not a narrative story about Gordimer's time in Africa. The excerpt is a small story about an incident where whites and blacks quick to join sides. Anecdotes are small stories used to emphasize the author's point. This anecdote would be used to support the idea that the races were so divided they would defend someone of their own race without even considering what was truly right. Characterization is the way an author develops a character. Imagery is a detailed desription to paint a picture in the reader's mind. Symbolism is where a concrete noun represents an abstract idea.

What is the narrator’s intention for “unnaming” the animals? Refer to paragraphs 6 and 7 and use evidence from the text to suppo
Ronch [10]

Answer:

The narrator's intention for "unnaming" the animals is: to become one with nature and have equality rather than showing domination over the creatures by labeling them with a name.

Explanation:

In author Ursula K. Le Guin's short story "She Unnames Them" the narrator is Eve, the first woman created by God according to the Bible. As we know, according to the book of Genesis, Adam named the animals God created to be his companions. In the story, however, Eve realizes the need to take those names back. She even gives back her own name. Her purpose for doing that is to free herself and the animals of the labels that distinguish them. By remaining unnamed, they become the same. There is nothing separating their existence and sense of self any longer:

They seemed far closer than when their names had stood between myself and them like a clear barrier: so close that my fear of them and their fear of me became one same fear. And the attraction that many of us felt, the desire to feel or rub or caress one another’s scales or skin or feathers or fur, taste one another’s blood or flesh, keep one another warm -- that attraction was now all one with the fear, and the hunter could not be told from the hunted, nor the eater from the food.

In what situation the oracle be prevented from happening?
Alenkinab [10]

Answer:

Oedipus ran to Thebes to prevent the oracle from happening.

Explanation:

When Oedipus was called a child with no father by some person, he became determined to learn about his origin. This led to his sojourn to the oracle of Apollo. At the oracle, Oedipus was told that he would kill his father and sleep with his mother.

To prevent the prophecy from coming true, Oedipus went to Thebes and on his way he killed a man named Laius who unbeknownst to him was his father. He married his mother, Jocasta, the queen and widow of Thebes who bore him four children. In that way, he fulfilled the prophecy.
