The correct answer is C.

The Spanish Civil war was fought between 1936 and 1939. It started with a military coup leaded by General Franco, who had gathered a lot of support within the Spanish army and they all sublevated against the democratically-elected right wing Republican goverment.

Franco leaded the Nationalists, and was supported by another fascists leaders, such as Salazar (fascist Portuguese dictador), Mussolini or Hitler. The Spanish civil war was considered a proxy war where European superpowers tested their weapons, especially those who were on Franco's side that provided an unlimited supply of weapons to the Nationalists. Franco managed to win the war in 1939 and his dictatorship would end up lasting until his death in 1975.

The House of Wisdom (Arabic: بيت الحكمة‎, romanized: Bayt al-Ḥikmah), also known as the Grand Library of Baghdad, refers to either a major Abbasid public academy and intellectual center in Baghdad or to a large private library belonging to the Abbasid Caliphs during the Islamic Golden Age.[1][2] The House of Wisdom is the subject of an active dispute over its functions and existence as a formal academy, an issue complicated by a lack of physical evidence following the collapse of the Abbasid Caliphate and a reliance on corroboration of literary sources to construct a narrative. The House of Wisdom was founded either as a library for the collections of the Caliph Harun al-Rashid in the late 8th century (then later turn

What civil rights and civil liberties remain unprotected or in jeopardy today?
il63 [147K]
Despite the wide range of change that came all throughout the years with regards to civil rights and liberties, there are still people who do not enjoy the rights that some people enjoy today. The problem in meeting the needs of subsistence didn't leave the underdeveloped and developing countries after all the wars. Countries should give their priority to people's welfare, not on the maximization of armaments and research on military technology. The state should always uphold the rights of its constituents at all times.

What generalization can you make about numbers and causes of settlers death in 1609?
serg [7]

When English settlers came to Jamestown, the living conditions were very poor. By the time 1609 had come around, they had faced a harsh winter called "the starving time".

Because the winter was so harsh, people were getting sick and dying off at a very fast rate. Only about 1/3 of the settlers survived that winter, and it was rumored that the starving time was so bad that the settlers turned to eating some of the animals, such as the dogs to stay alive.

Because the people were eventually reinforced with supplies and more settlers, the colony of Jamestown was able to persevere and keep going considering they lost a significant amount of their original settlers. The tobacco crop and more settlers coming on ships in the next few years is what was able to keep Jamestown thriving.

This helped make it the first permanent settlement in North America, unlike the Lost Colony of Roanoke, Virginia, where all the settlers had vanished in the late 1500s.
